If you ignored the awful weather, the 2+ hour delay, and the fact that the game lasted until after midnight eastern time, Friday’s Cincinnati Reds game was actually a dang blast. Literally - Phil Ervin blasted a pair of dingers in a huge night, and Scott Schebler crushed the team’s 10th grand slam of the season.
Finally, it was a win for the Reds over the San Diego Padres, who had taken the opening game of the series to back the series sweep the Reds just faced from the Pittsburgh Pirates. On Saturday, the Reds will look to start a lil’ win streak of their own, and will again turn to Matt Harvey on the mound to make it happen.
Scooter Gennet remains out of the lineup, however, and Brandon “Not Dilson Herrera” Dixon will start for the Reds at 2B. Also, since there is a serious threat of inclement weather in the forecast for later in the day, the Reds bumped the start time up an hour - so, now the game is scheduled to begin at 3:10 PM ET.
Robbie Erlin will start for the Padres, and since he’s a lefty, I firmly expect Eugenio Suarez to go bonkers at the plate today.
