The Los Angeles Dodgers roll into GABP today to open a three game series against the Cincinnati Reds, and it’s pretty safe to say this trio of games carries a significant bit of importance.

Well, at least it does to the Dodgers.

LA sits a half-game out of 1st place in the NL West behind the Colorado Rockies, against whom they just took two of three in Coors Field over the weekend. Similarly, the Dodgers sit just a game out of the second NL Wild Card spot, meaning they’ve got two weeks to do enough winning to vault their way back into the playoffs, and the Reds are one of the few teams left against whom they can accomplish that feat.

Oh, boy. No pressure or anything, Cody Reed.

Reed will toe the rubber for the Reds in Monday evening’s series opener, while lefty Alex Wood will start for the Dodgers in this all-southpaw affair. Brandon Dixon will start for the Reds for the 3rd consecutive game in his 3rd different position, while Dilson Herrera might not even technically exist anymore.

First pitch is set for 6:40 PM ET, in case you haven’t already turned your attention to football full time.
