Y’know what the Cincinnati Reds could really, really use on Saturday? A bang-up, bat-missing performance on the mound from Luis Castillo, who has largely been excellent for nearly two full months now.
In his last 8 starts, Castillo has pitched to a 2.96 ERA across 45.2 IP, and is fresh off a 9 K, 0 BB, 1 ER outing in 6.2 innings against the San Francisco Giants. The Giants are no Chicago Cubs, of course, so Castillo will have his work cut out for him on the day.
Offensively, the club got a boost when Scott Schebler was activated from the 10-day DL, and he’ll start in the leadoff spot today. He’ll hope to spearhead the attack on Cubs starter Jose Quintana, who has been more hittable this year, as his career worst 4.76 FIP suggests.
First pitch is set for 2:20 PM ET.
