It is August 17th and it might just be the darkest part of the entire season for your Redlegs. Joey Votto was finally placed on the disabled list for his sore leg. If you recall, he got schnurked by Ryan Madson nearly two weeks ago. He has taken a day or two off here and there, but it isn’t getting better.
The Reds owe Joey Votto more than $150 million over the next six years or so. In a season going nowhere, I’d protect that investment a little better.
Anthony DeSclafani will toss ‘em for the Reds tonight against Casey Kelly. Disco has been a cocaine-fueled sexathon on the dance floor so far in August. In two starts he has thrown 14 innings with an 11/1 K/BB ratio while giving up just nine hits and a single run. Given all the tough breaks the team has seen recently, it’s pleasant to be reminded that this cat has some serious upside if he can stay healthy.
I thought Casey Kelly played kickball or something. Didn’t he put the great Ronaldo in his place that one time?
