Getting trounced by the collective score of 18-4 isn’t exactly how anyone had hoped this series between Cleveland and the Cincinnati Reds would go. That said, the fact of the matter is that the combination of Mike Clevinger and Corey Kluber is a pretty danged formidable one, and that paired with Cleveland’s potent offensive lineup has been more than the injury-riddled Reds could overcome so far.
On Wednesday, the Reds will turn to Robert Stephenson for a chance to salvage a win in this series, as the young righty will get his second start of the 2018 campaign. He struggled with walks in his first outing of the year - familiarly, of course - but his months-long bout of success at the AAA level still has a few out there hoping that he’s made enough mechanical adjustments to get big league batters out more often than not, and he’ll have quite the tall task in front of him tonight to do so.
Cleveland will roll out Shane Bieber, who owns a 105 ERA+ in 63.2 fine innings so far in this, his rookie season.
First pitch is set for 7:10 PM ET.
