Farmers Only Weekend Harvest: Ibandel Isabel Is Making Florida League History

New, 9 comments

Smashing, bashing, and making the ladies swoon over the long ball all over again.

Brandon Larson Honorary Star Of The Weekend

Ibandel Isabel - He wanged four wangers for like 6 RBI and even walked once which is kind of rare for him. He’s now sitting one shy of 30 and about to break a Florida League single season record for smacking doinks over walls in a league where doinks don’t get dinged. Have a trophy, young man.

Friday

Louisville Bats, 3, Lehigh Valley IronPigs 3

Lucas “Fake” Sims put together another real good start since joining the Reds. He gave up 1 earned run over 6 innings on 2 hits, 2 walks, while striking out. Austin “The” Brice “Is Right” struck out 1, and Kevin “Mallard” Quackenbush struck out 3 as they both pitched scoreless innings out of the pen. Quackenbush picked up his 21st save of the year. Gabby Guerrero doinked another donk and walked, and Brian “Beef” O’Grady went 3 for 4 with a RBI, stolen base, and 2 runs scored. O’Grady has been beating the hell out of the ball in AAA by the way.

Pensacola Blue Wahoos 6, Mobile BayBears 8

Tony “Sad” Santillan had one of his few bad starts of the year. He gave up 5 earned runs over 4.2 innings (6 H, 3 BB, 7 K, 2 HR). Gavin LaValley doinked a dong, and Mitch Nay doubled and went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and a run scored.

Daytona Tortugas 1, Jupiter Hammerheads 7 (F/7)

Kevin “Cannon” Canelon pitched four very good scoreless innings. He struck out 4, and allowed only 1 hit and 1 walk in those four innings. The wheels fell off after Canelon. Ibandel “Strong” Isabel knocked in the only run with his 26th homer of the year.

Daytona Tortugas 5, Jupiter Hammerheads 6 (F/7)

Andrew “Jackson” Jordan was bad (3 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 2 HR). Michael “Boo-Urn” Byrne struck out 2 in 2 scoreless, and Ryan “Jimi” Hendrix struck out the side in the 7th. Ibandel “HE HITS DINGERS” Isabel knocked two more of ‘em both of them 2-run shots. Randy “Ace” Ventura went 2 for 3 with a walk and 2 runs scored.

Dayton Dragons 4, Lansing Lugnuts 11

Patrick “Crime Dog” McGuff was bad (3.2 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 1 K). Miguel Aguilar was the lone good pitcher of the evening when he struck out 2 over 2.1 scoreless innings. Jose “Cherry” Garcia knocked a 2-run dinger, and Andy Sugilio went 2 for 5.

Billings Mustangs 4, Ogden Raptors 3

James “Marinade” Marinan pitched 6 scoreless innings on 4 hits, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. “Hide And” Zeek White knocked in 2 with a double, and Juan Martinez singled and walked.

Greeneville Reds 13, Bristol Pirates 9

Miguel Medrano gave up 3 earned runs (4 total) over 5.1 innings on 8 hits but didn’t walk a batter and struck out 8. Ian “Weener” Koch struck out 2 in a scoreless inning. Justin “Belldinger” Bellinger went 3 for 5 with a 2-run homer, a walk, and 4 RBI. Mike “Singin” Siani went 3 for 6 with a run scored, and Claudio Finol “Countdown” went 3 for 5 with a walk and 2 RBI. Reniel Ozuna went 2 for 5 with 4 RBI, a walk, and 2 runs scored.

Saturday

Louisville Bats 6, Lehigh Valley IronPigs 7

Justin “Addicted To” Nicolino wasn’t super great. He gave up 3 earned runs over 4 innings but did strike out 7 and walked 1 while giving up 6 hits. Matt “Fear The” Wisler struck out 5 in 2 innings of relief, and Tanner Rainey picked up a hard luck loss after an unearned run scored while striking out 2 in 2 innings. Gabby Guerrero knocked another dinger, a 2-run shot, and it was his 16th of the year. Taylor Sparks also did something productive by socking a solo homer of his own. Josh “Maneater” VanMeter went 3 for 5 with a double.

Pensacola Blue Wahoos 2, Mobile BayBears 14

Poooooooooop. Daniel Wright got destroyed (5.1 IP, 10 H, 8 ER, 1 BB, 5 K). The bullpen was trash. Daniel Sweet went 2 for 3 with a solo homer.

Daytona Tortugas 4, Jupiter Hammerheads 2

Tommy “Swedish Chef” Berdjians struck out 5 with no walks over 7 innings of 1 run balls. He also only gave up 7 hits. Uhm... Ibandel Isabel hit another fucking homer while going 2 for 4 with a walk. Dayton Dragons 3, Great Lakes Loons 9

Ryan “Rubba” Nutof and Aneurys “Brain Bleed” Zabala both struck out 2 in a scoreless inning. Jose Garcia went 2 for 5 with 2 RBI and a triple. Mark Kolozsvary singled and walked twice.

Billings Mustangs 6, Ogden Raptors 5

It was a reliever fest and no one was of particular note. Except that Luis Alecis only went 2.2 innings while giving up 3 earned runs. He did throw 60 pitches so they may have just decided to pull him. Moises “Super” Nova struck out 3 in 1.2 scoreless innings. Drew Mount went 3 for 4 with a RBI and 2 runs scored.

Greeneville Reds 0, Bristol Pirates 3

Jacob Heatherly didn’t have his best stuff. He gave up 2 earned runs over 4 innings on 3 hits, 5 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Josh “Money” Rich and AJ Moore both struck out 1 in scoreless innings. Mike Siani and Jose Tello both had 2-hit games.

Sunday

Louisville Bats 0, Lehigh Valley IronPigs 4

Jose “Porky” Lopez could have had a much better start (5 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 K). Brandon Finnegan pitched 2 scoreless innings with two strikeouts, and Domingo “Ate Your Baby” Tapia and Austin Brice both struck out 1 in their scoreless innings. Gabby “Gappy” Guerrero was 1 for 3 with a walk, and Blake Trahan walked twice.

Cody Reed pitches at 7:05 PM ET.

Pensacola Blue Wahoos 4, Mobile Baybears 9

Wyatt “Derp” Strahan was both a hard luck loser and not very efficient. He allowed 3 earned runs (6 total) over 5.2 innings on 6 hits, 4 walks, while striking out 3. Robinson “Brick” Leyer struck out 1 in his scoreless appearance. Aristides “Horseshit” Aquino went 2 for 4 with a solo ding dong, and Daniel Sweet homered again. It was a 2-run shot. Chris “Annie Are You” Okey went 3 for 4 with a RBI.

Pensacola has Monday off.

Daytona had their game on Sunday cancelled due to rain. TBD will be on the mound at 6:30 PM ET. Apparently, the rain is the only thing that can stop Ibandel Isabel.

Dayton Dragons 0, Grand Lake Loons 1

Packy “Packy Naughton” Naughton got wacky again. He struck out 7 in 5 scoreless innings on 3 hits and 1 walk. Miguel “Guitar” Aguilar struck out 1 in an inning, and Ryan “Busta” Nutof pitched 2 scoreless. Reshard “Munsters” Munroe walked twice.

Austin Orewiler is on the mound at 7:05 PM ET.

Billings Mustangs 11, Ogden Raptors 15

Ricky “Spit” Salinas gave up 3 earned runs over 5 innings (5 H, 0 BB, 5 K). Matt “Pigeon” Pidich threw 2 scoreless, and then the rest of the bullpen gave up 12 earned runs over the final 2. Juan Martinez went 2 for 3 with a dinger. Drew Mount “The World” went 3 for 5 with a double, walk, 5 RBI, and 3 runs scored. Zeek White walked and went 2 for 3 with a triple and 4 runs scored.
