The Cincinnati Reds are a win away from a little sweepy-sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks, needing a win on Sunday to take three straight from the club that entered the series atop the NL West standings. Not only would a third straight win prove to be a solid bounce-back for the Reds after their injury-riddled string of losses on their previous road trip, it would also serve as a bit of a springboard for the rest of the season, seeing as they’ll have ample chances to spoil other clubs’ playoff chances down the stretch due to their specific schedule.
Luis Castillo will get the start for Cincinnati, and he’s been largely excellent of late after a poor run of form to begin the season. In 33.1 IP over his last 6 GS, he’s pitched to a 2.43 ERA, with a stellar 28/6 K/BB in that span. That’s what we’d hoped to see from him all season long, but at least he’s seemingly saved his best for the meaty portion of the schedule.
The Diamondbacks will counter with Zack Godley, who is the second best Zack G they have on their pitching staff.
First pitch is set for 1:10 PM ET.
