As much as we like to talk about Robert Stephenson being a bust or a failed a prospect that’s really not true. While he has struggled at the major league level, I doubt the Reds have really given up on him. While his past may have soured some as a starter, he’s still an impact arm that is trying to figure it all out. It’s starts like this that let you see and hope on all that potential.

Louisville Bats 5, Indianapolis Indians 2

Robert “Big Bob” Stephenson continues to look like he’s got this shit figured out, and it could figure into him getting some kind of call up. Stephenson struck out 12 batters on 1 walk in 6 scoreless innings on only 2 hits given up. That’s fantastic. Austin Brice “Almighty” struck out 3 in 1.1 scoreless, and Kevin “Mallard” Quackenbush continues to be unstoppable in AAA with 2 strikeouts in an inning pitched to pick up his 13th save. “Uncle” Phil Ervin went 2 for 3 with a dinger, 2 RBI, walk, and 2 runs scored. DJ Peterson went 2 for 4 with a double and a RBI, Blake “Brahan” Trahan went 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored, and Josh Van Meter walked twice.

The Bats will play on Friday at 7:00 PM ET.

Pensacola Blue Wahoos 2, Montgomery Biscuits 8

Wyatt “Derp” Strahan got rocked. He gave up 7 earned runs over 3.2 innings on 6 hits, 3 walks, while striking out 5. Robinson Leyer “I Hardly Knew Her” struck out 3 in 2 scoreless. Gavin LaValley hit a 2-run dinger.

TBD is on the mound at 6:35 PM CT.

Daytona Tortugas 4, Palm Beach Cardinals 3

Wennington “Winnington” Romero didn’t have the most sterling start, but he was still pretty good. He gave up 3 earned runs over 7 innings on 8 hits, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts. Joel “Slyde” Kuhnel struck out 2 in 1.1 scoreless. Bruce Yari went 2 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI, and Brantley “Ring my” Bell went 2 for 4 with a walk and 2 runs scored. Ibandel Isabel and Michael Beltre both walked twice.

Daytona plays at 7:05 PM ET.

Dayton Dragons 4, Lake County Captains 5

Adrian “Roddy” Rodriguez didn’t do so hot. He gave up 3 earned runs over 4 innings on 8 hits, 2 walks, and only 1 strikeout. Wendolyn Bautista struck out 2 in 3 scoreless, and Cory Thompson struck out 1 in a scoreless inning. Jeter Downs went 2 for 5 with a double, his 23rd steal of the year, and a run scored, Malik “Lassie” Collymore went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI, and a walk, Andy “Slug Lord” Sugilio went 2 for 4 with a RBI. Jose Garcia pitched in by singling and walking twice.

Austin Orewiler pitches at 7:05 PM ET.

Billings Mustangs 1, Helena Brewers 6

Ricardo “Ricky” Smith gave up 3 earned runs over 5 innings on 7 hits, 1 walk, and 1 strikeout. Ryan “Jackass” Dunne struck out 1 in 1.2 scoreless innings. Bren “And Stimpy” Spillane went 2 for 3 with a RBI and a walk, Cash “Money” Case went 2 for 4, and Reshard “Munster” Munroe went 2 for 3.

Ricky Salinas will be on the mound at 7:05 PM MT.

Greeneville Reds 4, Danville Braves 8

2nd round pick, Lyon Richardson took the start and gave up 2 earned runs over 2 innings on 4 hits, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts. Moises “Super” Nova was the only pitcher to not give up a run. Miguel Hernandez went 1 for 2 with a RBI and 2 walks, Brian “Say Hey” Rey went 2 for 5 with a run scored, and Robert Boselli walked twice with a RBI and a run scored.

Jacob Heatherly pitches at 7:00 PM ET.
