The Brandon Larson Honorary Star of the Night
Jose Siri - 2 for 3, 3B, HR, 4 RBI
Jose Siri has had a rough go of it since his call up to Double-A Pensacola. In his 13 games for the Blue Wahoos, he is only slashing .205/.260/.545. On Wednesday, he had his best game in his short Double-A career. He went 2 for 3 and banged out a triple and a grand slam while drawing a walk. Have a walk, Jose. Hopefully this serves as a turning point in your season.
Louisville Bats 2, Indianapolis Indians 4
It was a bullpen-by-committee game for Louisville last night in a 4-2 loss. Domingo “Ate My Baby” Tapia started and pitched 3 innings, giving up a run on 2 hits. Brandon Finnegan threw 2 shutout innings of relief, which was nice. Phil “Phlava Phlerv” Ervin was 2 for 2 with 2 walks and Dilson “Pickles” Herrera and DJ Peterson were each 2 for 4.
Up Next: Robert Stephenson starts tonight at 7:05 PM ET.
Pensacola Blue Wahoos 7, Montgomery Biscuits 2
Pensacola continued their roll, winning the 10th of their last 11 games on Wednesday. Daniel “Did It” Wright got the start and was solid, throwing 6.2 innings, giving up 2 runs on 7 hits with only 1 walk and 6 strikeouts. Alex “Danger” Powers struck out 2 in a scoreless inning. Jose “Que Sera?” Siri went 2 for 3 with a triple and a grand slam. “Get off the” Shed Long was 1 for 4 with a solo dinger and 2 RBI and Mitch “Yay” Nay was 1 for 3 with a walk and a solo blast.
Up Next: TBD starts tonight at 6:05 PM CT.
Daytona Tortugas 1, Palm Beach Cardinals 11
Daytona did not have themselves a good Independence Day, falling 11-1 in a rain-shortened, 5 inning game. Tejay “Oof” Antone started and did not have a good outing. He lasted only 1.1 innings and gave up 9 runs on 5 hits with 4 walks and not a single strikeout. Tyler “Yawn” Stephenson was 2 for 2 with 2 doubles and a run scored.
Up Next: TBD starts tonight at 6:30 PM ET.
Dayton Dragons 3, Lake County Captains 2
Dayton scored one in the bottom of the 8th to get a 3-2 win over Lake County on Wednesday. Packy “Wacky” Naughton was super wacky, throwing 7 shutout innings while giving up only 5 hits and 1 walk while striking out 5. JD Williams went 1 for 3 with a triple, a walk, and 2 runs scored. Jeter “Yeah, Jeets!” Downs was 1 for 4 with a double and scored a run while Andy “Sluggo” Sugilio was also 1 for 4 with a double.
Up Next: Adrian Rodriguez starts tonight at 7:00 PM ET.
Billings Mustangs 3, Helena Brewers 1
Luis Alices got the start for Billings last night and pitched well. He threw 5.2 shutout innings and gave up 2 hits, walked 4, and struck out 7. Pabel Manzanero was 1 for 4 with a double and Drew “Saddle Up” Mount was 1 for 4 with a 2-run donk.
Up Next: TBD starts tonight at 7:05 PM MT.
Greeneville Reds 3, Danville Braves 6
I know their record states that they are 5-9 on the season, but I feel like every time I read about the mini-Reds, they are losing and are actually 0-14. Anyways, they lost again on Wednesday. Miguel Medrano started last night and gave up 4 runs (3 earned) on 6 hits with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts over 5 innings of work. “Get Your” Cash Case was 2 for 5 with 1 RBI and Jonathan Willems “Defoe” was also 2 for 5 and added a double and drove in 2.
Up Next: Lyon Richardson starts tonight at 7:00 PM ET.
