Brandon Larson Honorary Star Of The Weekend
Jonathon India - 3 for 9, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 4 BB, 3 K, 2 R, 1 SB
Could have I have picked a better weekend? Yeah. Did I want to? No. Pretty much because I wanted to show off some numbers so far from India. Fangraphs wouldn’t have it updated that he’s drafted by the Reds and actually plays for the Astros, but he’s been on fire after a slow start at the plate. India is walking 24.2% of the time against a K rate of 19.4% His BABIP is kind of low at .290 but his ISO percent is .283. That gives his a slash line of .261/.452/.543. Not to mention a wRC+ of 161. There isn’t much more for him to prove in Greeneville. I’d like to see him skip Billings and get some time in Dayton for the last month.
Justin “NidoKing” Nicolino didn’t miss many bats but he kept the runs off the board. He pitched 7 shutout innings while giving up only 4 hits, walking 3, and striking out 1. Wandy “Blandy” Peralta pitched a scoreless inning and Jimmy “Eat World” Herget struck out 2 in a scoreless inning. Brandon Mason Dixon was 3 for 4 with a run scored, and Josh “Put Change In The” VanMeter went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI.
Tony “Sizzlin” Santillan was nails yet again. He pitched 6 shutout innings on 5 hits, no walks, and 6 strikeouts. He’s sporting a 1.50 ERA since his call up to AA. Robinson “Brick” Leyer struck out 2 in 1.2 scoreless, and Alex “Light Tower” Powers struck out 1 in a scoreless inning to pick up his 10th save. TJ “Beetle” Friedl went 3 for 3 with a walk and 2 runs scored. Shed “Blockers” Long went 2 for 4 with a solo dinger and 2 RBI total, and Aristides “Horse Shit” Aquino went 2 for 3 with a walk.
Tejay “Teehee” Antone was also good. It’s funny how good starting pitching can lead to wins. He allowed only 1 earned run (2 total) over 6 innings on 5 hits, 2 walks, while striking out 3. Carlos Diaz, Jeremy “Stunt Bike” Kivel (1 K), and Ryan “Jimi” Hendrix (2 K) all pitched a scoreless inning. Hendrix picked up his 8th save of the year. The Tortugas hit three dingers on the night and two of them belonged to Ibandel Isabel. He hit #21 and #22 on the year totaling 2 RBI, a walk, and a 3 for 3 night overall. The other was hit by Bruce Yari which was also a single shot. Branley “Ding Dong” Bell went 2 for 4 with a run scored.
Hunter Greene got the start and was obviously on a bit of a pitch count since he had tossed during the Future’s Game. He still did well. He went 3 innings and gave up 1 earned run on only 1 hits, 2 walks, and striking out 5. The bullpen was not good. Leandro Santana went 2 for 4 with a 2-run dinger and a walk. Andy “Sluglord” Sugilio went 3 for 6 with a RBI and a run scored, Jose Garcia broke out in a big way by going 5 for 6 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored, Mark Kolozsvary went 3 for 5 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored, and Alejo Lopez went 2 for 4 with a RBI, run scored, and a walk.
The pitching was all real yuck. Mike Siani went 2 for 3 with a dinger and 3 walks. Jonathon India stole a base, knocked in a run and walked 4 times! Brian Rey went 3 for 5 with 2 RB. I’m not going to go through with all of it, but all in all the Reds had 13 hits and 11 walks.
Jared “Temple Of” Solomon gave up 3 earned runs over 5.0 innings on 4 hits, 1 walk, and 4 strikeouts. Matt “Pigeon” Pidich, Connor Ryan, and Ryan “Soup” Campbell all pitched scoreless innings out of the pen. Pabel “Pepper” Manzanero went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI.
Jose “Porky” Lopez was pretty good in his start if you don’t look so much at the runs. He allowed 3 earned runs (4 total) over 5.2 innings. This occurred on 4 hits, 2 walks, and 10 strikeouts. Wandy “Blondie” Peralta pitched another scoreless inning as did Tanner “Mount” Rainey (1 K), and Kevin “Mallard” Quackenbush. Chadwick “Putin’s Bitch” Tromp knocked a 3-run dinger. Gabby Guerrero went 2 for 5 with triple and 2 RBI, DJ Peterson walked twice while going 2 for 3 with a RBI, and Josh “Maneater” VanMeter went 2 for 5 with a RBI.

Brantley Bell knocked in 3 with a double and walked, Stuart “Little” Fairchild went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 RBI, and a run scored, and Taylor Trammell went 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored.
Packy “Sacky” Naughton took the start and has had better. He allowed 4 earned runs over 5 innings. He allowed 8 hits, 2 walks, and struck out 3. Andy “Wiener” Cox didn’t allow an earned run over his one inning, and Aaron “Prick” Quillen struck out 2 in 2 scoreless. Hendrik Clementina went 2 for 3, and Lorenzo Cedrola went 2 for 4.
James Marinan got beat up again. He’s not had a good Reds debut. Ryan “Sand” Dunne, Eddy “Dumb Ass” Demurias, and Dauri Moreta all entered the game and pitched an inning without giving up an earned run. Manzanero went 3 for 5 with a double, RBI, and 2 runs scored, and Drew “Big” Mount hit a 2-run dinger.
Keury “Hella” Mella continues to shine for Louisville. He gave up only an earned run over 8 innings on 5 hits, 1 walk, and while striking out 4. Kevin “Duck Hunt” Quackenbush struck out 2 in a scoreless inning to pick up his 15th save. Josh VanMeter play shortstop and hit a two run dinger. Mason “Sherman” Williams doubled and walked.
The Bats have Monday off. They’ll play on Tuesday at 5:00 PM ET.
Rookie “Of The Year” Davis continues his rehab, and pitched pretty well. He did give up 3 earned runs and 2 homers over 6 innings, but only allowed 5 hits, 0 walks, while striking out 4. The offense carried him through the game though Wyatt Strahan tried to give it away. Aristides “Heiress Titties” Aquino hit a 3-run dinger, Rookie Davis helped his own cause with a 2-run wanger and a walk, and Chris Okey went 2 for 4 with a double and a solo dinger of his own. Jose Siri walked and doubled, Mitch Nay went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI and a walk, and Shed Long went 2 for 4 with a RBI and a walk.

“Yo” Adrian Rodriguez gave up an earned run over 5 innings on 5 hits, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Ryan “Busta” Nutof struck out 3 in 3 scoreless, and John Ghyzel struck out 2 in a scoreless to pick up his 17th save. Austin Orewiler takes the mound at 1:00 PM ET.
In the first game of the double header, Jacob “False Prophet” Heatherly got trounced (1 IP, 2 ER, 3 BB, 1 K). Justin “Throws Stuff” McGregor struck out 1 in 2 scoreless, and Perez “Knows” Knowles stuck out 1 in a scoreless inning. Jonathan “Bollywood” India went 3 for 3 with a solo dinger and 2 RBI. He’s killing it folks.
Josiah “Jebediah” Gray was nails yet again. He allowed only a single earned in 4.2 innings. He gave up 3 hits, 2 walks, and struck out 5. Manuel “Kitty Parachut” Cachut and Cory “Heil” Heitler were both good from the pen. Raul “Castro” Juarez knocked a 2-run homer, Reniel “Artery” Ozuna went 2 for 2 with 2 RBI and a walk, and Robert “Spaghetti” Boselli went 2 for 3 with a RBI.
Luis Alecis probably had his worth start of his career (3 IP, 9 ER). Connor “Ice” Curlis did pitched 3 scoreless and struck out 2. Mount hit another dinger, and Cash “Money” Case went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI, a walk, and a run scored.
