Farmers Only: Tyler Stephenson homers and then homers again

It was a pretty big offensive night on the farm

The Athletic, Doug Gray, AP

Louisville Bats 11, Syracuse Chiefs 1

Cody Reed started in this one and only went 3.2 IP and 57 pitches, for reasons that I can’t really figure out yet and haven’t been made obvious to me as of publish. The Bats were leading 10-0 at the time, so maybe that’s it? He was good, allowing 4 hits while striking out 7 with a walk. Maybe we should stay tuned?

Jesus “Walks” Reyes went 1.1, allowing a hit and a walk and striking out 1. Domingo “Ate Your Baby” Tapia went 1 IP, striking out 1. Brandon Finnegan refuses to make anything easy at AAA, allowing the only run of the night off 4 hits in 1.2 IP of work, walking 2 and striking out 3. Tanner “Full House Family” Rainey walked 1 in 1.1, allowing nothing else. It could be worse, obviously.

Brandon Dixon is on a damn tear this week, hitting 3 more times and driving in 2, scoring one himself. Blake Trahan doubled on a 3 hit night, batted in 2, walked, and scored 4 runs, while Mason “Jar” Williams tripled on a 3 hit night, batted in 2, and scored 3 runs.

Up Next: Justin Nicolino makes the start against Syracuse at 7:05 PM EDT.

Pensacola Blue Wahoos 6, Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 5

Vladimir Gutierrez is rockin’ in the Free World right now. He pitched 7 full, striking out 10, allowing only 5 hits and 1 run. Hot diggity damn is that fun to see.

Juan “Tres” Martinez have up 3 ER on 3 hits in only 0.1 inning, a strikeout, to try and ruin Vlad’s good thing. “Don’t Call My Name” Alejandro Chacin pitched the final 1.2, striking out 2 with 1 earned and 2 hits, earning the save.

Jose “Are You” Siri “ous” dingered again. He also tripled, just because, while driving in 2. Aristides “Heiress Titties” Aquino, who we don’t talk about much anymore, also smoked a dong on the night with a single and 2 runs scored.

Up Next: The vaunted TBD takes the stage for the ‘Hoos against the Jumbo Shrimp at 7:35 PM EDT.

Daytona Tortugas 9, Bradenton Marauders 6

Tommy “Timmy Jim” Bergjans pitched for Daytona, despite me never having read his name before in my life. Sorry Farmers Only crew, I don’t know who this person is. Anyway, he pitched 6 full, allowing 6 hits and 3 ER, with a walk and a strikeout.

Michael “Amanda” Byrne pitched an out, while Ty “Get that checked” Boyles pitched 1.2 flawless innings. Joel Kuhnel pitched 1, giving up 3 hits and 2 earned runs.

Daytona did all of their work in the latter half, led by Tyler Stephenson’s 2 HR and 5 RBI. He had 4 hits on the night. Ibandel “Jason” Isabel dingered as one of his hits, as he’s wont to do. Brantley “Country Singer Name” Bell doubled and Arby-Eyed, while Taylor Trammell walked twice.

Up Next: TBD pitches for DBT against BRD at 6:30 PM EDT.

Dayton Dragons 0, Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 1, F/10

This one took 10 innings before anyone could score. The Crime Dog Patrick McGuff was fine in 5 innings, allowing only 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3. Wendolyn “More like Losedolyn imo” Bautista gave up the run (unearned, though), with a walk and 6 K.

Andy Sugilio managed 3 of the 5 hits for Dayton, one being a double. Mark “Gonna Get Indicted by Mueller with a name like this” Kolozsvary hit the other two, doubling himself. Jeter Downs walked twice.

Up Next: Hunter “John Deere” Greene will pitch on a hot summer night in Wisconsin. First pitch is at 8:05 PM EDT.

Greeneville Reds 3, Elizabethton Twins 2, F/10

Greeneville used all the damn pitchers and I’m about to tell you all about it. Alexis Diaz pitched 4 full, struck out 4, allowed 5 hits but only a walk and a run. “Papa” Johnnie Schneider (is probably a bad nickname to use, all things considered) pitched 2 flawless innings, striking out 1. Manuel “Can You” Cachutt went 1.1 with 2 H and 1 ER. Connor Bennett blew the save and won the game (which is both super lame) by allowing 2 hits, with a walk and 2 K. Cory “Not Going There” Heitler allowed a hit in 1 inning.

Mike Siani honked a big fat wanger for his only hit of the night, but those 3 RBI were the difference. Jonny “BaseBollywood” India hit and walked, while Miguel Hernandez hit thrice and scored a run.

Up Next: Ricky “Bobby” Karcher pitches for Greeneville at 7:00 PM EDT.

Billings Mustangs 6, Grand Junction Rockies 7

Lil Mac Sceorler pitched 4 innings to start this one, giving up 6 hits and 6 runs, but only 2 of those were earned. Jake Wyrick “Jean” pitched 2 innings, giving up only a hit against 3 K. Andrew “Ronald” McDonald struck out 3 in 2 IP, but allowed a hit and a run that lost the game.

Bren Spillane did what he does, smack dank dingers, driving in 2 and walking once. “Holy” Pabel Manzanero hit 3 times, knocking in a run and scoring a run.

Up Next: Jared “King” Solomon pitches at 8:40 PM EDT in Grand Junction.
