Farmers Only: Big Win Hangover

We got a player hit for the cycle, and a bunch of early morning boredom.

Jonathon Willems - 4 for 5, 2B, 3B, HR, 3 RBI, 3 R

I don’t usually pick guys from the lower leagues, but you can’t ignore a cycle. Greeneville has some pretty bad pitchers but their lineup usually is one to watch. Willems has been mashing the ball and being only 19 years old seems to have some decent potential. Remember, he’s playing against a lot of college kids.

The Bats are on break.

Pensacola Blue Wahoos 3, Mobile Bay Bears 2

Wyatt “Earp” Strahan has been having a rough season, but he put together a good start last night. Strahan allowed only 1 earned run over 6 innings on 7 hits, 1 walk, while striking out three. Carlos “Belly Button” Navas struck out 3 in 2 scoreless. “Tool” Shed Long hit a two run dinger, and Aristides “Horse Shit” Aquino hit a homer as well while going 2 for 4. Gavin LaValley went 2 for 4 with a double, and TJ “You Got A” Friedl “In Me” went 1 for 3 with a walk and a run scored.

Pensacola plays at 6:35 PM.

Daytona Tortugas 8, Florida Fire Frogs 7

Wennington “Badminton” Romero didn’t have his best stuff. He allowed 4 earned runs (5 total) over 5.1 innings on 8 hits, 3 walks, while striking out 6. Michael “Burn” Byrne and Ryan “Jimi” Hendrix both struck out 2 in a scoreless inning. Byrne picked up the win and Hendrix his 7th save of the year. Daniel “Too” Sweet knocked in 3 with a big fly, Tyler Stephenson went 2 for 4 with a RBI and a run scored, Stu “Balls” Fairchild went 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored, and Michael Beltre went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 RBI, and a run scored. Taylor Trammell walked once and stole 2 bases, his 16th on the year.

Daytona plays at 7:05 PM

Dayton had the night off. They’ll play today at 7:00 PM.

Billings Mustangs 4, Grand Junction Rockies 9

James “NOT DYLAN FLORO” Marinan got rocked in his debut with his new organization. He allowed 4 earned runs (6 total) over 1.1 innings on 4 hits, 3 walks, with no strikeouts. Matt “Pigeon” Pidich came in with some very solid relief. He struck out 5 in 3.2 innings. Ryan “Sand” Dunne and Ryan “Soup” Campbell both struck out 1 in a scoreless inning. Juan Martinez went 3 for 4 with a RBI and a run scored. Reshard “Mustard” Munroe and Pabel Manzanero both knocked solo dingers with Manzanero going 2 for 3.

Billings plays at 7:05 PM.

Greeneville Reds 12, Kingsport Mets 13

I’m just gonna skip the pitching because it was all bad. Really bad. Jonathon Willems continues to knock the shit out of the ball. He hit for the cycle, going 4 for 5 with a double, triple, and a solo dinger. He knocked in 3 runs and scored 3 runs. Robert Boselli hit a 2 run homer, Hunter “Orange” Oliver went 3 for 5 with a double, RBI, and a run scored, and Mike “‘N Ike” Siani went 2 for 5 with a walk, run scored, and a stolen base.

Greeneville plays at 11:00 AM.
