Daniel Wright - 6 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 10 K

Daniel Wright has been tossed around quite a bit in his career. He was thrown to the dogs from AA when the Reds desperately needed some kind of bullpen arm. Then he was scuttled to the Angels where he didn’t perform very well. Wright has seen himself cast back to the team that originally drafted him, for good and bad, and his season has had his ups and downs. However, you’ll find it difficult to pick a better start than this one than we’ve seen on the season. Congrats.

The Bats didn’t play

Pensacola Blue Wahoos 5, Biloxi Shuckers 1

Daniel “Can Do” Wright was freaking fantastic. He struck out 10 total in 6 scoreless innings. He allowed only 2 walks and 2 hits. Robinson “Layers” Leyer struck out 1 in a scoreless inning. The Wahoos only had 4 hits but made them all count. Chris “Annie Are You” Okey raised his average to stifling .106 but he also hit a 3 run triple and walked. Daniel Sweet “Tooth” also doubled in a run.

Daytona Tortugas 5, Clearwater Threshers 3

Wennington “Winnington” Romero allowed 3 earned runs over 5 innings on 7 hits, 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Kevin “Cannon” Canelon struck out 1 in 2 scoreless, Aaron “Jimmy” Fossas pitched a scoreless inning, and Ryan “Jimi” Hendrix struck out 1 in a scoreless inning to pick up his 4th save. Bruce Yari went 1 for 1 with a 2 run double and 2 walks, and Tyler “Ty Steve” Stephenson went 1 for 2 with 2 walks. Brantley “Ring My” Bell also went 2 for 4 with a double, RBI, and a run scored.

The Dragons didn’t play.

Louisville Bats 7, Pawtucket Red Sox 4

Cody “Rec Spec” Reed gave up a ton of hits but was able to limit the damage. He allowed 3 earned runs over 5.1 innings. He gave up 12 hits, no walks, and did strike out 4. Kyle “Davy” Crockett struck out 1 in a scoreless inning, Tanner “Hide” Rainey struck out 2 while not giving up an earned run (1 run was scored though), and Kevin “Goose” Quackenbush struck out 2 in a scoreless inning to pick up his 8th save. Tony Cruz was 2 for 5 with a dinger and 2 runs scored, and Sir Chadwick Tromp went 3 for 4 with a solo homer and 3 RBI. Nick Senzel knocked in 2 with a double.

TBD is on the mound at 6:15 PM ET.

Pensacola Blue Wahoos 3, Biloxi Shuckers 6

Keury “Hella” Mella has really started to slide after his torrid start. He gave up 4 earned runs (6 total) in 3.2 innings on 6 hits, 2 walks, but he did strike out 7. Jesus “Rises To The Occasion” Reyes pitched 3 scoreless innings with 2 strikes but did walk 4, and Brennan Bernardino struck out 3 in 2 scoreless. The offense only had 4 hits once again. Daniel Sweet knocked 2 runs, and Brian “Beef” O’Grady walked twice.

Pensacola plays at 6:35 PM CT.

Daytona Tortugas 3, Clearwater Threshers 9

Ty “Poppin” Boyles didn’t get much help from his defense. He pitched 5.1 innings and gave up 2 earned runs (5 total) on 5 hits, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts. Jesse “Clutch” Stallings pitched a scoreless inning, and Shane Mardirosian pitched a clean frame. I doubt he’s really moving to pitching though if you look at his past batting lines it might make some sense. Ibandel “What The Hell” Isabel went 2 for 4 and knocked another dinger. Bruce Yari homered as well. Narciso “Nixon” Crook went 2 for 4 and stole a base.

Daytona plays at 7:05 PM ET.

Dayton Dragons 9, Lake County Captains 10

Andrew “Jackson” Jordan gave up 3 earned runs (5 total) over 5.2 innings on 7 hits, 3 walks, and only 1 strikeout. The bullpen was rather poor. Defense on both sides of this game sucked. The Dragons only had 6 hits but scored 9 runs due to 4 errors by Lake County. Jeter “Churchill” Downs was 1 for 4 with a walk and a steal, and Miles “Commish” Gordon went 2 for 4 with a walk, a double, 2 runs scored, and a steal. Jose Garcia also chipped in with 3 RBI and a steal himself.

Adrian Rodriguez takes that mound at 7:00 PM ET.
