The anticipation anxiety I get before each and every Anthony DeSclafani start is spearheaded by two different forces. For one, there’s his injury history, which has kept him sidelined long enough while his peers tried and failed to replace him that there have been months on end where we’ve all pined to see him on the mound to rectify the rotation. Then, there’s his actual performance history, which has often shown flashes of the kind of brilliance that can legitimately help anchor any rotation.
So far, what we’ve seen from Disco in 2018 has continued to improve and impress, and on Thursday he’ll take the mound against the NL Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers in GABP as the Cincinnati Reds look to continue their run of donking around teams that are over .500 like they’re tee-ball squads.
Junior Guerra will be on the mound for the Beers. First pitch is set for the usual GABP time of 7:10 PM ET.
