The Brandon Larson Honorary Star of the Night
Victor Payano - 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 K; 1 for 1, 2B, 3 RBI
Victor Payano isn’t talked about much in the prospect circles, as he’s a 25 year-old relief pitcher still kicking around in Double-A. However, he did a little bit of everything for the Blue Wahoos last night, so that earns him the Larson for the evening. He made his second start of the season and threw three shutout innings, allowing only 1 hit while striking out 3. He also got the offense going with a 3-RBI double for the first runs of the game. Have a trophy, Victor.
Louisville tried the whole “Start with a reliever, then relieve him with a starter” deal tonight. Domingo “Ate Your Baby” Tapia started and threw 2 shutout innings while striking out 1. Justin Nicolino then came in and threw 4.2 innings and gave up 5 runs (4 earned) on 7 hits with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Dilson “Pickles” Herrera was 1 for 4 and drove in a run.
