The Cincinnati Reds are currently on-pace to never lose another game ever forever again ever, at least according to the most recent sample size of games that is growing increasingly large by the day. After booting the Chicago Cubs out of town with a 4-game sweep on Sunday, the Reds will take on the Atlanta Braves on Monday in the first of a three game road set.
Tyler Mahle will toe the rubber for Cincinnati, and he’ll do so with an ERA that begins with a rare, sparkly 3! He’ll be opposed by Braves starter Mike Foltynewicz, who will likely do at least three record-breaking things during play just so I get to learn how to type Foltynewicz over and over and over again.
[This just in: Mike Foltynewicz had been on the 10-day DL with right triceps tightness, but Mike Foltynewicz was reinstated today to make tonight’s start, the first such Atlanta start that will feature Mike Foltynewicz since Mike Foltynewicz started for them on June 12. Also, Mike Foltynewicz has a 181 ERA+ in 79 IP this year, which is quite not bad.]
First pitch is set for an awkward 7:35 PM ET, mostly due to the fact that Atlanta traffic sucks an egg.
