Shed Long - 4 for 5, 2 2B, RBI, 2 R

So many infielders. It’s a really good problem for the Reds to have. Shed had hit a little bit of a slump a couple of weeks ago, but it’s looking like he’s working his way out of it.

Louisville Bats 2, Columbus Clippers 8

Justin “Addicted To” Nicolino got trounced. He allowed 5 earned runs over 3 innings on 6 hits, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Domingo “Ate Your Baby” Tapia, Jimmy “Cracked Corn” Herget (3 K), Jackson “Mississippi” Stephens (3 K), and Kevin “Mallard” Quackenbush (1 K) all pitched scoreless innings. Chadwick “Tiny Hands” Tromp went 2 for 3 with a RBI, and Nick Senzel went 2 for 4 with a walk, and honestly has little else to prove at the minor league level.

Jose Lopez takes the mound at 7:05 PM ET.

Pensacola Blue Wahoos 4, Mobile BayBears 2

Daniel Wright “Or Wrong” has had a rather up and down year, but he had it figured out on Thursday. Wright pitched 7 scoreless innings on only 3 hits, no walks, while striking out 3. Carlos “Navel” Navas struck out 2 in 1.1 scoreless to pick up the save. Shed “Blockers” Long went 4 for 5 with a RBI, 2 doubles, and 2 runs scored. Narciso Crook went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI, a walk, and a stolen base. Gavin LaValley, who has been struggling mightily, went 2 for 3 with a walk, run scored, and a stolen base as well.

Pensacola plays at 6:35 PM CT.

Daytona Tortugas 3, St. Lucie Mets 13

Wennington “Go To Beddington” Romero got deeeeestroyed last night. He allowed 7 earned runs (9 total) over 3 innings on 11 hits, no walks, and while striking out 2. The only pitcher not to surrender a run was Aaron Fossas who pitched a scoreless inning. Brantley “Ring My” Bell went 3 for 4, and Ibandel Isabel ho-hummed a 3 for 4 night with a RBI.

Daytona doesn’t play again until Monday.

Dayton Dragons 0, South Bend Cubs 2

Hunter Greene took the start, and while he wasn’t sterling it was still a good outing by the youngster. Greene pitched 4.1 innings and gave up 2 earned runs on 7 hits, no walks, and 3 strikeouts. Aaron “Porcupine” Quillen pitched 3 scoreless and struck out 1 in relief of Greene. Hendrik “The Mighty” Clementina went 2 for 4. Jeter Downs went 1 for 3 with a walk.

Andrew Jordan pitches at 7:05 PM ET.
