It’s shocking.

Robert Stephenson - 7 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 0 BB, 9 K, 1 HR

You know, there’s that whole fool me once, fool me twice, kind of thing. With Robert Stephenson, I think we’re on about the fourth fool me so I probably shouldn’t get my hopes up. But, Stephenson has been pitching much better lately and has his season ERA down to 3.80. He’s spent his entire season in AAA, and I think he should stay there until we see some continued success. But, an outing like this is very encouraging.

Louisville Bats 7, Columbus Clippers 1

We’d like to hope that Robert Stephenson puts it together, and he did tonight. Bob Steve went 7 innings and gave up only 1 earned run on 4 hits, zip walks, and struck out 9. Give me three more of those and I’m a believer. Kyle “Davy” Crockett struck out 1 in a scoreless inning. Nick “The Future” Senzel went 2 for 5 with 2 RBI. Gabby Guerrero jacked a dinger on a 2 for 4 night, DJ Peterson whacked a wanger on a 2 for 4 night, and Mason “Paint Me” Williams went 2 for 4 with a dinger and two total runs scored.

Louisville plays at 7:00 PM ET.

Pensacola Blue Wahoos 2, Mobile BayBears 1

Do you remeber when Seth Varner went like 30 innings without giving up a walk? I do. He was with Dayton and had one helluva year. He’s a crafty lefty, and I think we’ve forgotten about him. Tonight, he pitched 6.2 innings of one earned run ball on 3 hits, 1 walk, and 9 strike outs. It’s really hard to beat a line like that. Victor “Pay Load” Payano struck out 2 in 1.1 scoreless, and Alex “Light Tower” Powers struck out 2 in his scoreless inning to pick up the win. Chris Okey hit a solo dinger off Tyler Mahle’s brother (no shit) and walked. Narciso Crook walked twice.

Pensacola plays at 6:35 PM CT.

Daytona Tortugas 6, St. Lucie Mets 1

Tejay “Weejay” Antone got his shit together. Antone gave up 1 earned run over 7 innings on 3 hits, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts. Joel “Knuckles” Kuhnel struck out 2 in 1.1 scoreless. Brantley “Ding Dong” Bell went 4 for 5. Taylor “All Star” Trammel went 2 for 6 with a RBI, stolen base, and 2 runs scored, Michael Beltre went 2 for 5 with a run scored, and TJ “Of The” Hill Friedl went 2 for 4 with a walk, RBI, and a run scored.

Tortugas play at 6:30 PM ET.

Dayton Dragons 2, South Bend Cubs 1

Tyler Mondile was sharp. He allowed no earned runs over 5.0 innings on 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. “Finding” Dauri Moreta struck out 6 over 2.1 innings. If you’re counting that means he retired 6 out of 7 batters via the strikeout. Ryan “Busta” Nutof struck out 1 in a scoreless inning. “No Way” Jose Garcia went 2 for 4 with a run scored and a RBI, and Montrell Marshall and Mitch Piatnik “At The Disco” both went 1 for 3 with a walk.

Hunter Greene is on the mound at 7:05 PM ET.
