Mets at Reds, Game 3: Preview and Lineups

A series win is on the line!

MLB: New York Mets at Cincinnati Reds Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

Sal Romano will take the mound here in a bit with the chance to lock up just the second series victory of the season for the Cincinnati Reds. That we’re on May 9th while assessing that point is obviously troubling, but a win is a win is a win - and man, it’d sure be nice to take 2 of 3 from the New York Mets given all the action between the two clubs so far this week.

Zack Wheeler gets the nod for the Mets, and given that his 5.79 ERA makes him look like he was actually traded to the Reds for Jay Bruce years ago, hopefully the bats can do some damage against him.

First pitch is set for 12:35 PM ET.

Other Notes

  • After sitting on back to back days with LHP on the mound, Alex Blandino is finally starting today again at 2B. I’m glad he’s finally getting to play - but I’m also already completely over having Jim Riggleman in charge of how this team lines up everyday. Gross.
  • Go Reds.
