The Cincinnati Reds just lost a home series to the Miami Marlins over the weekend. So, if you’re actually bothering to read this today, you can assure yourself that you’re absolutely one of more masochistic sports fan on the planet at this time.
Just to rub some additional salt in your wounds, Jay Bruce and Todd Frazier return to GABP today to begin a three-game series against the Reds with their New York Mets. You remember those guys, right? Smiley, happy, fun-timey folks, Todd and Jay.
There was a time. That time is gone.
First pitch is set for 7:10 PM ET.

Other Notes
- With Jacob deGrom on the DL, the Mets will send PJ Conlon to the mound tonight for his first career big league appearance. The lefty was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and will be the first Belfast-born MLB player since 1909. You can read about that, and more, at Minor League Ball’s write-up on the rookie.
- Earlier on Monday, the Reds announced that they’d called-up Jackson Stephens from AAA Louisville and optioned Kevin Shackleford down the river. Shack, of course, just pitched on back to back days (and has allowed 5 ER in 5.0 IP this year), and given how much the bullpen had to pick up slack after Brandon Finnegan’s short outing, a fresh arm was needed. Stephens, whose been in the Louisville rotation after his lone relief appearance with the Reds earlier this year, should indeed be fresh, as he last pitched on May 2nd.
- Indeed, Trent. Indeed.
