Fresh off a sweep at the hands of the Milwaukee Brewers, the Cincinnati Reds will look to right the ship this weekend as they face off against the Miami Marlins for the first time in 2018. We normally would have circled this series as an easy one to get things turned back around, but when you own the worst record in baseball at 7-24, there are no such series at the moment.
Sal Romano (1-3, 4.65) takes the mound for the Reds in game 1. He is coming off a start where, while he didn’t have his best stuff, he was able to limit the Twins to only 3 runs while getting out-dueled by Jake Odorizzi. Romano has made 2 career starts against the Marlins and has had a lot of success against them. In 9.2 innings of work, he has only allowed one earned run, good for a 0.93 ERA. Hopefully that continues tonight.
Romano will be facing off against Wei-Yin Chen. This will be Chen’s second start this season, and he is coming off a performance where he gave up only 1 run in 5.1 innings against Colorado back on April 28. This is Chen’s first meeting with the Reds.
