Brandon Larson Honorary Star Of The Night
Phillip Ervin - 2 for 3, RBI, 2 walks
There are a couple others that had bigger nights, maybe, and with bigger hits. However, I think Phillip deserves some credit. One of the big things that will help his game going forward is by continuing to get on base. If he wants to stay with the big league club, and supplant Billy Hamilton, that has to be his goal.
Louisville Bats 3, Indianapolis Indians 5
Cody Reed was better but not great. He allowed 3 earned runs (4 total) over 5.0 innings. He allowed 6 hits, 2 walks, and struck out 6. Domingo “Fishy” Tapia struck out the side in the 7th and Kevin “Duck Hunt” Quackenbush pitched a clean frame in the 8th. Josh VanMeter was 2 for 5, Gabby Guerrero was 2 for 5, and Blake “Brahan” Trahan was 2 for 4 with a double. The Bat with the big night was “Uncle” Phil Ervin who went 2 for 3 with a RBI, run scored, and 2 walks.
Robert Stephenson pitches at 1:35 PM ET.
The Wahoos had the night off and will face the Tennessee Smokies at 6:35 PM CT.
Daytona Tortugas 4, Jupiter Hammerheads 3
Scott “Not Austin Ross” Moss had a pretty dang good gang. He pitched 7 scoreless innings allowing only 4 hits, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Joel “Sofa King” Kuhnel pitched a scoreless 9th to pick up his 6th save. Brantley “Dinger” Bell had the big hit of the game, a 3-run shot in the 4th inning. Taylor “All Star” Trammell was 2 for 4 with a RBI, and a walk, and TJ Friedl also helped set the table by going 2 for 5 with a RBI and stealing his 2nd base of the season. Calten Daal “Sheep” still exists and went 2 for 4 with a run scored, and Morgan “Wonder Break” Lofstrom went 2 for 4 with a run scored.
Tejay Antone will be making his season debut at 6:30 PM ET.
Dayton Dragons 5, Lake County Captains 4 (F/7)
Packy Naughton took the start and was good. He allowed 2 earned runs over 5.0 innings on 5 hits, 1 walk, and 5 strikeouts. The other pitchers weren’t that great. Miles “Commissioner” Gordon got off the schnide a bit by going 3 for 3. “Big” John Sansone was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI, 2 runs scored, including a dinger. Hendrik Clementina also continued his hot season by going 3 for 4 with a 2-run homer and 2 runs scored.
Dayton Dragons 1, Lake County Captains 2 (F/7)
Wendolyn “Bend It Like” Bautista was really good. He allowed 2 earned runs over 6.2 innings on 7 hits, 1 walk, and 7 strikeouts. The Dragons only had 2 hits but Jeter “Churchill” Downs hit a dinger and walked.
Tyler Mondile takes the mound at 7:00 PM ET.
