Brewers at Reds, Game 3: Preview and Lineups

Can Luis Castillo salvage a game for the Reds?

The Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers have battled back and forth in what’s been a rather entertaining series in GABP so far this week. The only problem, of course, is that the Beers have handed the Reds back to back 1-run losses in see-saw games, and that’s a big, fat bummer sandwich.

Luis Castillo will look to get right in a home start with warm weather and his entire contingent of healthy regulars behind him, and hopefully can eschew what was a brutal April and pitch again like he did in 2017. He’ll be opposed by Milwaukee starter Wade Miley, who was plucked off the scrap-heap after allowing more walks than any pitcher in baseball in 2017 in a negative WAR season. If ever there was a recipe for a get-right game, this one sure appears to be it, and the Reds have a rather loaded lineup to maul that LHP set and ready to go.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM ET.

Other Notes

  • The MRI that Scooter Gennett had on his ailing right shoulder yielded some positive news, as MLB.com’s Mark Sheldon reported. The plan is for him to return as early as this weekend.
  • In slightly worse news regarding beloved Reds, it appears Johnny Cueto’s elbow issue is bad enough for him to visit Dr. James Andrews, which is never a positive development. The Reds will head to San Francisco next week as part of their 7 game west coast swing, but Cueto will obviously not be a part of those tussles, unfortunately.
  • Go Reds. Do the dang thang.
