Farmers Only - Anthony DeSclafani looks ready in rehab start

Pensacola’s pitching staff had a pair of big leaguers with them on rehab.

The concept of Anthony DeSclafani has become somewhat of a myth around Cincinnati Reds baseball these days, as the guy who has so often looked like the next solid cog in the team’s rotation has continually been on the shelf with injuries nearly as much.

Well, Disco’s on his latest comeback trail, and on Monday he looked to be pretty damn ready to be back in the bigs.

He threw 3 scoreless, hitless innings, fanning 4 against nary a walk, and the idea of adding him into the big league rotation should once again creep into your minds, and soon.

Biloxi 4, Pensacola 1

Disco was stellar for the ‘Hoos, as we highlighted above. His 3 IP of scoreless ball simply wasn’t enough to carry the Pensacola offense - since you actually have to score a run to win a game - and the Shuckers used a 3 run 8th inning to turn the tides for their own victory.

Michael “Lorne Michaels” Lorenzen struck a batter out and stranded a hit while also on a rehab assignment, which is a dang fine development. Backing them up was Jesus “Tampa Beye” Reyes, though, and things didn’t go quite as well for him in his 4 innings of 3 ER ball.

On offense, Luis Gonzalez tallied 3 of the team’s 5 hits, Shed Long blasted a solo homer for Pensacola’s lone run, and Chris “This Wine Has Scents of” Okey - who entered play 0 for 10 since his promotion to AA - picked up the other hit on the day.

Vlad Gutierrez will start for Pensacola on Tuesday against Biloxi, with first pitch scheduled for 7:35 PM ET.

Lansing 4, Dayton 3

Andrew “Better Than LeBron” Jordan got the start for the Dragons and pitched rather well, scattering 6 hits over his 5 innings, with 4 Ks against 2 walks. Unfortunately, some shoddy defense, a pair of unearned runs, and a few additional runs allowed by Austin “Iron” Orewiler later, and the Dragons were on the frowning side of the scoreboard.

Stuart “Liz” Fairchild paced the offense by clubbing 3 doubles, scoring a run, and driving in a run, while Andy Sugilio chipped in with 3 singles of his own.

Adrian Rodriguez is set to start for Dayton in their Tuesday game, with first pitch in their next matchup against the Lugnuts scheduled for an early 10:35 AM ET.

*AAA Louisville was off on Monday, while A+ Daytona’s game against Bradenton was postponed due to rain.
