Fresh off a week where the Cincinnati Reds actually won more games than they lost - and even captured their first series victory of the season - the Queen City baseballers open a series against the Milwaukee Brewers at GABP on Monday. It’s also the first game of a nine game homestand, one where they just might be able to bust enough heads to show they’ve got some fight to get through the next 130 games of the season.
Brandon Finnegan gets the start tonight, and he’s obviously looking to show some continued improvement after taking a baby step forward in his last outing (2 ER, 7 H in 5 IP against the Atlanta Braves). He’ll be opposed by Milwaukee starter Jhoulys Chacin, who has allowed just 3 ER in his last 3 games started (15.1 IP).
First pitch is set for 7:10 PM ET instead of 6:40 PM ET, probably just to confuse the heck out of you.

Other Notes
- Jose Peraza has been knocking the snot out of the ball of late. Former Fearless Leader (and The Athletic contributor) Joel Luckhaupt has a closer look at what’s been working for Peraza during his hot streak, and you should read it.
- As Luckhaupt notes in his article, it’s actually Peraza’s 24th birthday today, too. Happy Birthday, Jose!
- Fresh off a week where he hit .360/.543/.880 with 4 dingers and 9 walks in 7 games played, Joey Votto has been named the NL Player of the Week.
- Go Reds.
