The Brandon Larson Honorary Star of the Night
Shed Long just continues to hit the ball and get on base in Pensacola. I realize I gave him this honor like 4 days ago, but he is deserving again. He reached base 4 times last night, going 2 for 3 with 2 walks and a RBI while scoring 3 times. He has hit in 13 of his last 14 games and just recorded his 3rd multi-hit game in a row. He is now hitting .361/.432/.486 on the season.
Louisville was off last night. They will face off against Toledo tonight with Jackson Stephens getting the start at 7:05 PM EST.
Pensacola Blue Wahoos 9, Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 10
Good pitching was non-existent in the Blue Wahoos’ loss to Jacksonville last night. Daniel “Wasn’t” Wright started and was shelled. He lasted only 2.2 innings and gave up 7 earned runs on 11 hits with no walks and 4 strikeouts. The only Wahoo who didn’t give up a run was Robinson “Pants on Fire” Leyer, who struck out 2 in 1.1 scoreless innings. There was plenty to go around offensively. Shed Long continued his hot start by going 2 for 3 with 3 runs scored, 2 walks, and 1 RBI. Gavin “As I Walk Through” LaValley was 2 for 5 with 1 RBI, Gabriel “Young Vlad” Guerrero was 2 for 5 with a double and 2 batted in, Taylor Sparks was 3 for 5 with a triple, and Brian “Beef” O’Grady hit a solo dinger.
Up Next: Keury Mella takes the mound against Jacksonville tonight at 6:05 PM CT.
Daytona Tortugas 4, Fort Myers Miracle 5
Ty “Poppin’” Boyles got the start for Daytona and was roughed up early and often. He lasted only 2.2 innings and gave up 5 runs on 9 hits with no walks and 5 strikeouts. Sarkis “O-H” Ohanian was solid in relief, though, as he struck out 4 batters in 2.1 scoreless innings. Dilson “Pickles” Herrera was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored, TJ “Land of the” Friedl was also 2 for 4, and Chris “Annie Are You” Okey made his first appearance of 2018 and went 1 for 3 with a 2-run dinger.
Up Next: TBD gets the start tonight against Fort Myers at 7:05 PM ET.
Dayton Dragons 7, Lansing Lugnuts 8
Pitchers struggled for the Dragons Thursday, too as they fell 8-7 to Lansing. Tyler “Walt” Mondile lasted 3.2 innings and gave up 4 runs (3 earned) on 5 hits with 3 walks and 1 strikeout. There was plenty in the way of offense once again. Mark Kolozsvary was 2 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI. Jeter “Git-R-Done” Downs was 2 for 5 and scored a run, Michael Beltre was 2 for 4 with a double and scored a run, and John “Sandstorm” Sansone reached base 3 times by going 1 for 3 with a triple, 2 walks, and 1 driven in.
Up Next: Wendolyn Bautista takes the mound against Fort Wayne tonight at 7:05 PM ET.
