Reds vs Braves: Preview and Predictions

MLB: St. Louis Cardinals at Cincinnati Reds David Kohl-USA TODAY Sports

Hey, last night was fun, huh? After scoring just seven runs in their previous five games, the Reds put ten on the scoreboard. Now tie your shoe, slug some water, and get out there and do it again.

Tyler Mahle is the first arm to the hill for the Reds tonight. As Reds’ starters go this season so far, he’s probably your number two. He got bopped around a bit by the Brewers his last time out, but he only gave up two runs in five innings. I think he’ll do better than that tonight.

The Braves have Brandon McCarthy, who is probably the most blogger baseball player in the league right now. He’s always friends with a bunch of nerds on Twitter, anyway.

He came to the Braves in that giant contract swap that sent Matt Kemp back to the Dodgers. He is throwing really well so far this year, posting a stingy 2.91 ERA. The Reds got to Foltynewicz pretty well last night though, so hopefully they can do the same tonight.

Baseball Redlegs of Cincinnati-on-Ohio

Still kinda racist and probably never changing Atlanta Braves

Other Notes

  • Raisel Iglesias pitched a perfect 1.1 innings to earn the save last night. So far for the season, he is pitching only once every three days or so. For all the yapping about unconventional bullpen usage and multiple-inning appearances, that’s pretty cruddy.
