Farmers Only: Lots Of Hitting And Scott Moss

When you get to the Dayton game, you might cry a bit.

Brandon Larson Honorary Star Of The Night

Josh VanMeter - 3 for 4, 2B, 3 RBI.

I wasn’t really sure who to pick for this one. So, I went with the guy with a 3 for 4 night and 3 RBI. If Shed Long hadn’t gone 0 for 3 in the final game tonight, I probably would have looked his way.

Louisville Bats 3, Charlotte Knights 5

Justin “Nidorino” Nicolino gave up 4 runs (3 earned) over 4 innings on 5 hits, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. That’s not too good. Ben “Roland” Rowen struck out 1 in a scoreless inning, Evan Mitchell struck out 2 in 2 scoreless, and Zach “Seel” Neal struck out 1 in a scoreless inning. Brandon “No” Dixon “The Dance Floor” hit a solo dinger. Nick “Senzational” Senzel was 2 for 4 and so was Rosell “Hostel” Herrera. Sebastian “Bach” Elizalde went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk.

TBD is on the mound at 6:30 PM ET.

Pensacola Blue Wahoos 9, Birmingham Barons 5 (F/7)

Keury “Hella” Mella was decent in a short outing. He allowed 1 earned run over 3 innings on 2 hits, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts. This guy has been in AA for an eternity. Maybe he’s finally figuring it out. Seth “Vinny Vanny” Varner gave up 3 earned runs over 4 innings. He struck out 4 and didn’t walk a batter, but he did give up 4 hits, two of them were dingers. Josh “ManEater” VanMeter was 3 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI, and Luis Gonzalez went 2 for 4 with a run scored. The big names of the night were “Tool” Shed Long (2 for 4, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R, 1 BB), Nick “Bong Rip” Longhi (2 for 5, 2 RBI), and Gavin “Deep In” LaValley (1 for 3, 2B, RBI, 2 BB, 2 RBI).

Pensacola Blue Wahoos 0, Birmingham Barons 6 (F/7)

Barf. Vladimir Guttierez was effective if you ignore the 4 earned runs and 2 homers. He went 6 innings and struck out 7 and gave up no walks. The Wahoos scattered around 5 hits with Taylor Sparks hitting a double.

Jesus Reyes pitches at 6:35 PM CT.

Daytona Tortugas 6, Florida Fire Frogs 3

Scott “Green” Moss was just fine in this start. He gave up an earned run over 5 innings while not giving up a hit, 2 walks, and striking out 3. Jesse “Clutch” Stallings picked up his 3rd save of the year with a clean inning. Dilson “Baby Pickle” Herrera was 1 for 2 with 2 walks, and TJ “Of The Hill” Friedl did the same but with 2 runs scored and a stolen base. Mitch “Yay” Nay hit a 2-run chuck wagon, and Ibandel “I’ll Be Damned” Isabel hit a 3-run shot.

TBD is on the mound at 7:05 PM ET.

Dayton Dragons 7, Lansing Lugnuts 10

This will make you sad. It made me sad. Hunter Greene got absolutely rocked. This goes to show some of you mouth breathers why 18 year old kids aren’t rushed to the majors. It doesn’t matter at all how hard they throw. He completed only 0.2 innings and gave up 7 earned runs. This happened on 3 walks, 4 hits, and a home run. He did strikeout a batter but that doesn’t matter much. Austin “Animal Farm” Orewiler continued to pitch well only giving up 1 earned run in 5.1 innings of “relief”. He gave up 2 hits, 2 walks, and struck out 3. John “Demon” Ghyzel struck out 1 in a scoreless inning of relief. Montrell “We Are” Marshall went 2 for 5 with a run scored, solo homer, and 2 RBI. Jose “Cherry” Garcia was 3 for 4 with a double and a RBI, and Mark “Mike” Kolozsvary was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a RBI. Michael Beltre went 1 for 3 with 2 walks.

We get Wacky with Packy Naughton tonight at 7:05 PM ET.
