Brandon Larson Honorary Star Of The Night
Brantley Bell - 3 for 5, 2 R, 2 2B, 1 3B, 1 RBI
There is really only one thing that could keep me from giving this award to Tony Santillan, who totally deserves it, and that is hitting two doubles and two triples. Bell has been a player that has been moving pretty slowly, but one that I’ve personally been keeping my eye on. He’s had a rough and tumble couple of years, and I wanted to give him some dap. There is something that always draws my eyes to the former 11th round pick. It’s probably his kick ass name.
The Louisville Bats have been snowed out indefinitely because for some reason baseball is played in Buffalo. They’ll resume play when minor league teams stop being so cheap and put some damn roofs on their damn stadiums. The gall they have restricting our baseball.
Pensacola Blue Wahoos 8, Mississippi Braves 4
Keury “Hella” Mella continues to pitch well. He gave up 1 earned run (2 total) on 5 hits, 3 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Dean “Kick Heffer” Kiekhefer struck out 3 in 1.1 scoreless. Josh VanMeter continues his best Votto impression going 2 for 2 with a double, 2 RBI, and 2 walks. He also stole a base. Luis “MVP” Gonzalez was 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored, Gabby Guerrero was 2 for 5 with a double, RBI, and 2 runs scored, and Taylor “Forgot He Existed” Sparks was 2 for 4 with a RBI and a run scored. To keep you update on a top prospect, “Tool” Shed Long doubled and walked. His batting average is .324 on the year. Also, because he’s my fav, Gavin LaValley walked twice, singled, and knocked in a run.
Daytona Tortugas 8, Tampa Tarpons 2
Tony “Sizzlin” Santillan has it (pardon my french) fucking figured out. Santillan pitched 6 innings while surrendering only 3 hits, no walks, and striking out 5. He still hasn’t allowed a run on the season. Brantley “Ding Dong” Bell was 3 for 5 with 2 doubles, a triple, a RBI, and a run scored. Mitch “Yay” Nay was 2 or 5 with a double and 2 RBI, and Dilson “Pickle” Herrera was 2 for 5 with a RBI. Keeping with his current theme, Tyler Stephenson singled and walked. This is all good, and I like it.
The Tortugas will play tonight at 6:30 PM ET with TBD on the mound.
Dayton Dragons 3, South Bend Cubs 2
Wendolyn “Mandolin” Bautista was incredibly ineffective (4 hits, 4 walks) but only gave up 1 earned run over 4 innings. He also struck out 3. Cory “SS” Thompson struck out 1 in a scoreless inning and so did Connor Ryan and John “Excuse Me” Ghyzel. The Dragons’ bats were pretty silent for picking up three runs. Michael Beltre walked twice, and Stuart “Pale Face” Fairchild singled, walked, stole a base, and scored 2 of the runs.
Hunter Greene takes the mound at 7:05 PM ET tonight.
