Jeter Downs - 4 for 6, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 R
Jeter Downs is definitely a guy to stay excited about. Downs raised his average to .314 on the season. He’s swiped 3 bags, hit two doubles, hit that dinger tonight, and has walked twice to get his OBP up to .368. He’s had a couple down games, but the guy taken as a competitive balance pick last year certainly is looking good in his young career. Downs had a bit of a blunder in the 9th, dropping the last out of the game which allowed the trying run to score. In glorious redemption, he also had the walk off hit of the game. A line drive single to center field to win it all. A bitter memory that will soon be forgotten and one of the beautiful things about minor league baseball. That’s a lesson to you kids that the glass is often half full. Kudos, Jeets.

Louisville Bats 1, Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs 13
Welp. That’s not good. Jackson “Sad” Stephens gave up 6 earned runs over 3 innings on 7 hits, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. The bullpen was just as much a dumpster fire as the Reds. They did avoid using a position player though. Nick “Senzinnati” Senzel went 2 for 4 with a double and so did Mason Williams.
Jose Lopez pitches at 7:05 PM ET.
Pensacola Blue Wahoos 3, Chattanooga Lookouts 0
There, that’s more like it. Alleviating some of my dread. Keury “Favor” Mella was nails pitching 6 shutout innings with 3 strikeouts, no walks, and 5 hits allowed. Alex “Light Tower” Powers struck out 2 over 2 clean frames, and Ariel “Little Mermaid” Hernandez struck out 1 in a clean inning to pick up the save. Aristides “Heiress Titties” Aquino was 2 for 3 with a double, 2 RBI, and a walk. Gabby “Vlad” Guerrero was 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored, and Josh “Man Eater” VanMeter was 2 for 4 with a double and a RBI.
Vlad Goots is on the mound at 6:35 PM CT.
Daytona Tortugas 7, Charlotte Stone Crabs 6
Scott “Randy” Moss gave up 4 earned runs (5 total) over 2.1 innings on 8 hits, 1 walk, and 1 strikeout. Joel “Slyde” Kuhnel struck out 4 over 2 scoreless, and Jesse “Clutch” Stallings struck out 1 in a scoreless inning and picked up the win. Bruce “Jay” Yari was 3 for 5 with 2 RBI and a run scored, and Malik “Good Boy” Collymore was 3 for 4 with a triple, 2 RBI, and a run scored. Former 1st round pick, Tyler “Bat Flips” Stephenson, continued his torrid start to the season with 2 hits in 3 at bats with a double, a walk, and 2 runs scored. Dude is searching for a promotion, and if this is what happens when he’s finally healthy watch out.
Ryan Olson is on the mound at 7:05 PM ET.
Dayton Dragons 10, Lake County Captains 9
Tyler “Walter” Mondile got worked. He gave up 7 eared runs in 4.1 innings on 3 dingers, 8 hits total, but not walks, and 4 strikeouts. Tyler “Margaritaville” Buffett struck out 1 over 2.2 scoreless, and Ryan “Bust A” Nutof struck out 1 in a scoreless inning. The offense obviously took off in this one with three homers of their own. Jeter “Churchill” Downs went 4 for 6 with his first homer of the season and 2 RBI overall. Stuart “Little” Fairchild hit a dinger himself, a two run shot, on a 3 for 5 night with a double and 2 runs scored to boot. Narcisco “I’m Not A” Crook went 2 for 4 with a 2 run dinger and a walk. There were a couple others that had good nights so hit up the box score, jerks.
Wendolyn Bautista will pitch to start the game at 6:05 PM ET.
