Farmers Only: I Wanna Get Wacky With Packy

The Brandon Larson Honorary Star Of The Night

Packy Freaking Naughton - 6.1 IP, 7 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 K

The 9th round pick out of Virginia Tech sliced up eyeballs last year in Billings, and he’s currently slicing up some meaty eyeballs in Class A Dayton. His first start of the year wasn’t the greatest, but it sure is nice to see him rebound so well in his second start and limit those walks. Here is your reminder that Packy walked 3.0 per 9 and struck out 9.5 per 9 in Billings last year. That will definitely play, and he’s now sporting a 1.80 ERA on the short season. Here’s to ya, Packy, and your sweet, sweet name.

I bet you’ll also appreciate this sick webgem that he made last night.

Louisville Bats 7, Columbus Clippers 1

Justin “Nicotine” Nicolino took the start for the Bats and only gave up an earned run over 5 innings pitched with 6 strikeouts, 3 walks, and only 3 hits given up. Domingo “Ate Your Baby” Tapia struck out 2 over 3 scoreless, and Jimmy “The Reds Make Me Drink To” Herget struck out 2 over a scoreless frame. Sebastian “Lizard People” Elizalde was 2 for 4 with a 2 run dinger, and Tyler Goeddel walked twice and hit double with 3 RBI total. The double was only a 1-run double so I’m guess at least one of those other RBI came on a bases loaded walk. Tony Cruz also singled and walked twice.

TheBigDiggity will be on the mound 6:30 PM ET.

Pensacola had the night off. They’ll square off against the Lookouts of Chattanooga at 6:35 PM CT with Daniel Wright looking to right his wrong ship.

Daytona had their game banged due to rain. They’ll pay twice on Wednesday with Tony Santillan starting off the festivities at 5:30 PM ET.

Dayton Dragons 2, Lake County Captains 1

Packy “Wacky” Naughton was freaking lights out in this one. He gave up 1 earned run over 6.1 innings. He gave up 7 hits but walked no one while striking out 7. Ryan “Get Your” Nutof struck out 3 over 1.2 clean innings, and Connor “Saving Private” Ryan struck out 1 to pick up the one inning save. John “Say It Ain’t” Sansone was 3 for 4 with a double, and Montrell “Williams” Marshall was 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored. However, Miles “Commissioner” Gordon had the big hit of the game with a 2-run chuck wagon in the bottom of the 8th to give the Dragons all they really needed.

Mac Sceroler will take the mound at 7:00 PM ET.
