Real baseball finally begins!

The rest of the Major League Baseball world enjoyed themselves on Thursday, mistakenly thinking that they were actually celebrating Opening Day 2018. Turns out, baseball seasons simply do not begin until the Cincinnati Reds take the field, and that’s what we’ll finally get to enjoy on Friday.

The Reds welcome the Washington Nationals to Great American Ball Park on Friday afternoon, where Homer Bailey and Max Scherzer will take the mound for the first starts of their team’s season (respectively). First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 PM ET, and I hope like hell that as many of you as possible who are reading this actually have a ticket to go catch the game live-and-direct.

If you don’t have a ticket, both teams’ television affiliates will have the game for you to view. FS-Ohio will host the Reds feed, while MASN will relay the Nationals’. Or, if you’re that much of a purist, you can catch things on 700 WLW, of course.

Baseball is back. Real, live, baseball is back, and the Reds are already ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central.

Welcome to the 2018 season, folks...officially.
