The penultimate preseason game for the Cincinnati Reds starts Monday night in Globe Life Park, the home stadium of the Texas Rangers down in Arlington. Tyler Mahle will be on the mound for the Reds opposite Doug Fister and his sneaky-good 88 mph heater.
How deceptively fast is Doug Fister’s fastball, you ask? Fast enough to make u forget what u’re doing, of course.

Backing Mahle tonight will be the likes of Raisel Iglesias, Jared Hughes, Kevin Quackenbush, and Wandy Peralta, which sounds a whole lot like much of the bullpen that will be backing every Reds starter this year. This is what happens when you’re three days from the beginning of the regular season, it would seem.
First pitch is set for 8:05 PM ET, and will be televised by FS-Ohio, FS-Southwest, and MLB.tv, so you basically have zero excuse for not watching it. There’ll be a quiz on the results tomorrow morning.

Other Notes
- Aside from the innate fart noise you caught yourself making when you saw the Reds have a DH in their lineup tonight, the lineup they’re rolling out tonight looks pretty, pretty good.
- Real baseball is just three days away. Three days.
- Two ‘other notes’ was probably enough for today, but here we are.
