Tyler Mahle is set to mount the bump today for the Reds. He has been just fine so far in just shy of ten innings in the Cactus League, striking out nine to just two walks. He is still in the running for one of the open spots in the rotation, so he better keep it up if he wants it to stay that way.
The Indians have Mike Clevenger starting for them. He is probably their fifth starter, but he would pretty easily sit atop the rotation if he was a Red. Today, John Dewan picked the Indians as the best rotation in baseball. The Reds are 29th, ahead of only the Angels. So this is fun.
Here’s the starting lineup and list of fellas who will likely see some action in today’s game:

Other Notes
- The Reds have hired former Red Sox and Blue Jays manager John Farrell as a scout. I think this is a good hire. He’s well-respected in baseball and is clearly a pretty talented guy. I dunno what kind of scouting and such he is going to be doing, but it’s usually a good idea to have smart people in your organization.
- Joey Votto rules.
- That basketball thing is happening, so whatever.
