Reds closing in on Puig, Wood, others

Them’s a lot of pennant-winners coming to Cinti

MLB: World Series-Boston Red Sox at Los Angeles Dodgers Robert Hanashiro-USA TODAY Sports

Whew, I bet you didn’t know I still had posting privileges on this site. Well I bet you didn’t think Yasiel Puig would be wearing red either, did you?

Ken Rosenthal is reporting that Puig, Alex Wood and Matt Kemp will be coming over to Cincinnati in exchange for Homer Bailey, Homer Bailey’s contract, and additional prospects. Rosecrans has added that at least one more player will be coming from the 2018 NL Champions.

My mind tells me that I should be as excited about this deal as the prospects warrant, and that none of Wood, Puig nor Kemp is under contract for 2020.

My heart tells me that Puig is fun as hell, Wood is already the best starter the Reds have, and Kemp is a strapping dude and the best right-handed outfielder on the roster. The Reds may not be in full compete mode, but they just got much more watchable.
