Louisville 1, Toledo 5
Amir “Ball Is Life” Garrett kept the walks down, but he was still very hitable. Garrett gave up 4 earned runs (5 total) over 5.2 innings. He allowed 9 hits, 1 walk, struck out 5, and gave up a dinger. Alejanro “Cha-ching” Chacin struck out 2 over a scoreless 1.1, “Call Me” Ismael Guillon struck out 2 in a scoreless inning, and Ariel “Little Mermaid” Hernandez struck out 1 in his scoreless inning of relief. Brandon “Mason” Dixon knocked in the lone run on his 2 for 4 evening. Darnell Sweeney “Todd” scored that run and was 2 for 4 as well.
Rookie Davis pitches at 7:05 PM ET.
Pensacola 7, Birmingham 0
Jose “Porky” Lopez was good. He pitched 6 shutout innings with only 4 hits and 2 walks allowed. He struck out 4. Carlos Gonzalez struck out 1 in an inning, Tanner “Mount” Rainey struck out the side, and Jake “Scritch Scratch” Ehret struck out 1 in his inning. Obviously, they didn’t give up any runs if I’m talking about them. Blake “Trade Hands” Trahan (2 for 4), Nick “Senzinnati” Senzel (2 for 5, 2 RBI), Josh “Man Eater” VanMeter (2 for 4, double, BB), “Joltin’” Joe Hudson (2 for 3, double, BB, RBI, 2 runs), and Brian “Beef” O’Grady (2 for 4, 2 RBI) all had multi-hit games. Senzel is hitting .329 for Pensacola, and this is just your daily reminder that he’s really really good.
Domingo Tapia pitches at 7:05 PM CT.
Daytona had the night off. They resume play tonight at 6:30 PM ET with Johnny Crawford on the mound.
Dayton 2, Great Lakes 8
Alex “Spider” Webb started and was pretty good. He allowed 2 earned runs over 6 innings. He gave up only 3 hits, 2 walks, and struck out 6. The bullpen gave up the other 6 runs over 3 innings. That’s dumb. Jose Siri got another hit to stretch his hitting streak to 38 games. He went 1 for 4 on the evening. Malik “Lassy Less” Collymore hit a solo ding dong.
Anthony DeSclafani continues his rehab at 7:00 PM ET. This could be his last start before returning to Cincinnati if all goes well.
Billings is still on their All-Star break. They get back at it with Luis Alecis on the mound at 7:05 PM MT.
Baby Reds 5, Baby White Sox 3
Nick Routt started and struck out 1 over a scoreless inning, and Evan Mitchell did he same in the 2nd inning. Jacob “Heavenly” Heatherly did the actual yeoman’s work by pitching 5 innings and not giving up an earned run, though 2 runs were scored during his time. Actually, all three runs the Baby Sox scored were unearned. Heatherly struck out 3, walked 2, and surrendered 2 hits. Adrian “Shere Khan” Chacon struck out 2 in a scoreless inning, and John “Old Faithful” Ghyzel struck out 1 in his scoreless inning to pick up the save. Mariel Bautista was 2 for 4 with a run scored. Raul “Rusty” Wallace doubled in 2 runs.
