Louisville was off last night
They’ll make up for it by playing two tonight. The Bats will send Rookie Davis to the mound tonight when they take on Pawtucket in the first game of a doubleheader beginning at 5:30 ET. Tyler Mahle will pitch in the “night” game. Since it’s a doubleheader, don’t be the least bit surprised to see Mahle pitch another no-no.
Pensacola Blue Wahoos 9, Mobile BayBears 7
Both teams scratched out 11 hits, but the Wahoos were able to score two additional runs for the win. Jose “George” Lopez was fine in his 6.1 IP, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, walking 3 and striking out 5. Domingo Tapia was batter dipped and fried however, getting only 0.1 inning of work allowing an extra 4 runs on 4 hits. Yikes. “Danny” Tanner Rainey allowed a run on 2 hits in 1.1 IP, while Zach Weiss got the 1 inning save, striking out 2.
2016 Number 2 draft pick but number 1 in our hearts, Nick Senzel, had only 1 hit and 1 run scored, showing that he is mortal after all. Gab Guerrero had a double as part of 3 hit night, scoring 2 runs. Gavin “Down In” LaValley doubled and singled as well, scoring 2 runs and batting 3 in, while Chad “Drompf” Tromp batted in 2 on a 3 hit night.
Up Next: Pensacola is off.
Daytona Tortugas 6, Bradenton Marauders 13
Was not a great night for the Dragonas. Wendolyn Bautista lasted only 3.2 IP after surrendering 7 hits and 6 earned. “His Name Was” Jake Paulson was better in 2.1, but still allowed 4 hits and an additional 2 runs. Ryan Hendrix was in a Purple Haze, allowing 2 more walks, runs, and hits in his 0.2 IP. Jake “Record Scratch” Ehret was bad, too, allowing another 3 runs, 2 walks, and 2 hits in 1 inning. Guh.
Daniel Sweet “Tooth” singled 3 times and scored a run, while Reydel “Funky Cold” Medina doubled and tripled, batting in 2. James Vasquez did his best Nick Senzel impression, bashing 2 dingers on the night.
Up Next: Jonathan Crawford will take his 0-8 record to the mound against Bradenton at 6:30 ET.
Dayton Dragons 7, West Michigan Whitecaps 4
Matt “The Other” Blandino got the start for Dayton and was okay-not-great in 5 innings of work, scattering 8 his but only allowing 3 runs with 0 walks and 4 Ks. Alex “Spider” Webb allowed only 3 hits and 1 walk, striking out 3, for the 4 inning save.
Taylor “Bubba” Sparks hit a 3 RBI triple, while Cassidy Brown hit a 2 RBI double. Hector “Lars” Vargas batted in 2 of his own. Jose Siri didn’t record a hit, but did score 2 runs.
Up Next: Wennington “FTW” Romero will pitch for the Dragons at 7:00 PM ET.
Billings Mustangs 17. Idaho Falls Chukars 14 F/12
The ‘Stangs went into many extras. Luis Alecis gave up 2 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks, striking out 4, while Zac “K” Correll allowed another 4 hits but only 2 earned runs. Things went off the rails for John Gyzel “Bundchen”. He allowed, get this, another 4 hits, but 3 earned runs (2 more unearned) while striking out nobody in only 0.2 IP. Connor Bennett went 2.1 innnings, striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing only 1 run. Miguel Aguliar got the distinction of blowing a save and earning a win for his role in allowing 2 earned runs in 4 IP.
But hey! The Mustangs scattered 22 hits and scored 17 runs, so forget about all that bad pitching and defense. Hunter Greene hit 4 times, including 2 doubles from the DH spot. Jeter “Re2pect” Downs hit 3 times, including a dinger. And a bunch of other people did a bunch of other things, so you should probably click on that box score.
Up Next: Jhon De Jesus will get the ball against Idaho Falls at 9:15 PM ET.
The Baby Reds lost to the Baby Padres, which you can find out about here. The DSL Reds had 2 games. They lost to both the DSL Mariners and DSL Diamondbacks.
