Farmers Only: Senzel heats up in Pensacola

Nick Senzel continues to adjust to AA pitching as he added 2 more hits last night.

Louisville Bats 5, Toledo Mud Hens 8

Cody “BB” Reed started for the Bats and was roughed up. He gave up 6 runs (5 earned) on 7 hits with 6 walks and 4 strikeouts over 4 innings of work. Not great. Dilson “Pickles” Herrera was 2 for 4 and scored twice. Brandon “Too many” Dixon “the dance floor” was also 2 for 4 and had a double and 1 RBI, Darnell Sweeney was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI and scored a run, and Chad “Tear down that” Wallach was 1 for 4 with a 3-run dinger. Kevin “Love” Shackelford struck out 3 in 1.2 scoreless innings.

Pensacola Blue Wahoos 4, Biloxi Shuckers 6

Pensacola gave up 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th to fall to Biloxi 6-4. Rookie “of the year” Davis started and went 4.2 innings, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. Alex “Danger” Powers was solid, striking out 4 in 2.1 scoreless innings of relief. Nick “Senzinnati” Senzel was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI and scored a run. He had a Double-A slash line of .318/.400/.409 going into this game. Shed “Me” Long “Time” was 1 for 4 with a 3-run donk and Aristides “Heiress Titties” Aquino was 1 for 4 with a double.

Daytona Tortugas 2, Clearwater Threshers 4

Although they out-hit Clearwater 13-6, the Tortugas couldn’t put up the runs and lost their 25th straight game, or something like that. Wyatt “Derp” Strahan started for Daytona and was solid, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits over 6 innings with 1 walk and 9 strikeouts. Tanner “Make it” Rainey struck out 3 in a scoreless inning of relief. Alfredo “Little Pasta” Rodriguez was 3 for 5 and scored a run, James “No nickname” Vazquez was 3 for 4, and Luis “Castillo” Gonzalez was 2 for 5 with 1 RBI.

Dayton Dragons 5, Bowling Green Hot Rods 6

Scott “Not Austin Ross” Moss started and gave up 3 runs on 5 hits with 4 walks and 6 strikeouts over 4 innings of work. Tyler “Bat Flip” Stephenson continued hitting the ball well, going 3 for 4 with a double and 1 RBI. Jose “Ask” Siri was 3 for 4 with a solo tater and Hector Vargas was 3 for 4 with 1 RBI and scored a run.

Billings Mustangs 10, Helena Brewers 3

Thank goodness for Billings, right? Jhon “O-H” De Jesus started and went 5 innings, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. Montrell Marshall was 2 for 5 with a double, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI, Zeke “Elliott” White was 1 for 3 with a solo dinger and 3 runs scored, and Andy “Slugs” Sugilio was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI.

AZL Reds 7, AZL Padres 8

Well this is just depressing. The Baby Reds gave up 3 in the 9th to fall 8-7 to the Baby Dads. Alex Webb started and gave up 3 runs in 2 innings but then Jared “Song of” Solomon struck out 3 in 2 scoreless innings. Cash “Brief” Case was 1 for 4 with a 2-run double. Jonathan “Does Rey think so?” Reynoso was 2 for 5 and scored twice and Victor Ruiz was 3 for 5, scored twice, and drove in 1.
