Farmers Only: Phil Ervin Drives in Five

Garrett struggles; Long and Downs contribute for Pensacola and Billings

Toledo 10, Louisville 8

Phil Ervin stole the show as he finished with three hits (two doubles), five RBI (career high), and a run scored. He also has a modest six-game hitting streak. Jesse Winker and Dilson Herrera batted No. 1 and No. 2. They combined to go 2-for-10.

Amir Garrett…UGH. His final line: 5.2 IP, 11 H, 7 R, 2 BB, 7 K, 2 HR.

The Bats host Toledo tonight at 7:05 PM ET. Cody Reed will be the starting pitcher.

Pensacola 4, Biloxi 0

Shed Long smacked a 2-RBI triple in the seventh inning to add some insurance runs. Nick Senzel went 1-for-4 with a run scored and a strikeout. Starter Deck McGuire and reliever Carlos Gonzalez combined for the two-hit shutout.

The Blue Wahoos play tonight in Biloxi at 7:35 PM ET.

Clearwater 5, Daytona 0

Daytona lost by the same score from Monday night as starter Wendolyn Bautista pitched seven innings and gave up five runs (four earned) on eight hits. Alfredo Rodriguez, Luis Gonzalez, and Blake Butler (one hit each) combined to get the only hits of the night for Daytona.

The Tortugas host Clearwater tonight at 7:05 PM ET.

Bowling Green 5, Dayton 2

Dayton scored both its runs in the top of the 9th inning when Jose Siri and PH Kevin Franklin each came through with a 2-out RBI hit, but it wasn’t enough as starter Wennington Romero (6.0 IP) and reliever Patrick Riehl (1.2 IP) gave up all five runs to Bowling Green.

The Dragons play at Bowling Green tonight at 7:35 PM ET.

Helena 5, Billings 4

Starter Mac Sceroler lasted just one inning and gave up all five of Helena’s runs on two hits and three walks. Jeter Downs and Morgan Lofstrom each hit solo shots for Billings. Lofstrom finished with three RBI for the night.

The Mustangs host Helena tonight at 9:05 PM ET.

AZL Athletics 5, AZL Reds 4 (10 innings)

After giving up two runs in the top of the 10th, the AZL Reds scored one run in the bottom of the 10th but couldn’t complete the rally. Alejandro Paulino, Jonathan Reynoso, and Mariel Bautista each had two hits.

The AZL Reds play at the AZL Padres tonight at 9:00 PM ET.

DSL Reds 4, DSL Orioles 1

Pitchers Luis Sparies and Juan Pichardo combined for three hits and one run in the win. Two of the four runs scored were unearned, thanks to three errors by the DSL Orioles. Mario Soto, Leonardo Ortiz, and William Nava had one hit and one RBI each.

The DSL Reds play the DSL Orioles again today at 10:30 AM ET.
