New, 5 comments

Tyler Mahle has another solid outing in a L’ville L

Syracuse 4, Louisville 2

The Bats were up 2-0 going into the bottom of the eighth, but the Chiefs scored four runs to start and seal a come-from-behind win despite Tyler Mahle’s gem of 7.1 IP, two runs, four hits and six strikeouts. Ariel “I’ve been up and down from Cincy and the minors all year” Hernandez recorded only one out in the eighth and gave up the other two runs on one hit and three walks. “Uncle” Jesse Winker batted leadoff and got on base once via a double that plated one of Louisville’s two runs.

Amir Garrett starts for the Bats tonight at Syracuse at 6:35 PM ET.

Pensacola 4, Biloxi 1

Down 1-0 heading into the bottom of the eighth, Pensacola put up a four-spot to get the W. Josh VanMeter knocked in two on his double in the inning as all four runs scored were unearned. First baseman Gavin LaValley had two hits, drove in one run and scored a run. Starter Jesus Reyes pitched 6 1/3 innings and gave up one run on eight hits and struck out six.

The Blue Wahoos host Biloxi tonight at 7:35 PM ET.

Clearwater 3, Daytona 0

Blah game despite Wendolyn Bautista’s outing of 6.0 IP where he gave up seven hits and two runs and struck out seven. Luis Gonzalez had two doubles in this shutout L.

The Tortugas play at Clearwater tonight at 7:00 PM ET.

Lansing 11, Dayton 7

Jose “iPhone voice” Siri continues to rake. He had three more hits Wednesday night – all extra-baggers – to extend his hitting streak to 31 games. He drove in four runs on his double and two home runs. Taylor Trammell (two runs and two walks), Bruce Yari (one run, two hits, two RBI, and one HR), and Cassidy Brown (two hits and one run) all contributed on offense. But starting pitcher Matt Blandino…struggled. His final line: 4.2 IP, 12 H, 11 R, 2 BB.

The Dragons play at Lansing tonight at 7:05 PM ET.

Billings 9, Orem 9 (6 innings)

This one ended in a tie thanks to inclement weather. Billings was up 7-0 after two innings but starter Moises “not Alou” Nova and reliever Ryan Nutof combined to give up 10 hits, nine runs, and six walks. Jeter Downs hit his first three-bagger of the year, knocked in one run and walked once. Stuart Fairchild scored two runs and Leandro “not Carlos” Santana drove in four, which included a two-run dinger.

The Mustangs are off tonight and host Great Falls Friday night at 9:05 PM ET.

AZL Padres 5, AZL Reds 3

Three errors and six walks doomed the AZL Reds in this L. Mauro Conde hit a solo dinger for the lone earned run for the AZL Reds as the AZL Padres also committed three errors.

The AZL Reds are off tonight and play at the AZL Royals Friday night at 9:00 PM ET.

DSL Reds were rained out on Wednesday and play at the DSL D-Backs1 today at 10:30 AM ET.
