Farmers Only: Ervin and Blandino Go Yard

Look, I even found a picture of the two of them standing together! So cute!

MLB: Fall Star Game Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

We really messed up and missed doing Tuesday’s Farmers Only. So, today you’ll get two for the price of one! Just forgot you were deprived on Tuesday. Tuesday’s suck anyway. We were happy to pitch in and make your’s worse.

Monday

Louisville 8, Syracuse 11

You look at that score, and you immediately assume the pitching was bad. Well, it was. Robert “Bobert” Stephenson took the start and his peripherals were good once again, but he was a victim of the long ball. Stephenson struck out 8 hitters over 6 innings while allowing 8 hits and 1 walk. That’s good. He also allowed 5 earned run and gave up 2 ding dongs. That’s bad. Kevin “Handcuff Chevy” Shackelford struck out 2 while not allowing an earned run. There were 3 unearned runs, and that’s because the Bats had three errors on the night. Sebastian “Lizard Man” Elizalde was 4 for 6 with a 3 run tater and 2 runs scored, and Devin “Golem” Mesoraco hit a Grand Salami and walked twice. Phillip “Sweet Ervie” Ervin was 3 for 5 with a walk and 2 runs scored, and Darnell “Cut Throat” Sweeney was 2 for 5 with a walk and 2 runs scored.

Pensacola 5, Mississippi 2

Jose “The Village” Lopez pitched a stellar game. He gave up a lone earned run over 6 innings while allowing 2 hits, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts. The long run came on a solo bomb. Domingo “Ate Your Baby” Tapia pitched a scoreless inning with a strikeout, and so did the resurgent Zack “Winky” Weiss who struck out 2 in his perfect inning to pick up his 5th save. You’ll remember that Zack Weiss was shutdown and highly touted reliever in the Reds minors up until 2015. He was considered a fast riser and then his elbow exploded last season. Though control has been a bit of problem he’s had no problem getting batters out this year. Blake “Trade Hands” Trahan was 2 for 5 with a run scored, Josh “Man Eater” VanMeter was 3 for 3 with a double, run scored, solo dinger, 2 RBI total, and a walk, and “Tool” Shed Long was 3 for 3 with 2 runs, a double, a solo wanger, and a walk. That’s good to see since Shed has been struggling since his promotion to AA.

Daytona had their game postponed due to rain.

Dayton 1, Kane County 2

Tony “Sizzling” Santillan was pretty good. He allowed 1 earned run (2 total) over 5 innings while giving up 5 hits, 2 walks, and striking out 3. Dauri “Maori” Moreta pitched a scoreless inning with a strikeout. Jose “Blame” Siri continues to rake. He went 2 for 4 with a triple. Taylor “Train” Trammell walked twice.

Billings 2, Orem 3

Tyler “Walter” Mondile threw 4 shutout innings on 3 hits, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Ryan “Got His” Nutof pitched 2 scoreless with 2 strikeouts. Miles “Commissioner” Gordon was 1 for 3 with a walk, Leandro “Carlos” Santana was 1 for 3 with a double, walk, and 2 runs scored, Andy “Slurms MacKenzie” Sugilio was 1 for 3 with a double, RBI, and a walk, and Alejo “Aloha” Lopez walked twice.

The Baby Reds had the night off.

Tuesday

Louisville 5, Syracuse 1

So, I don’t know what to say. Do you want the good or the bad? Here’s the good. Cody “Rec Specs” Reed allowed only 1 run on 5 hits in 5.2 innings. The bad? He walked 6 and only struck out 3. I actually LOL’d when I read the box score. Kyle “Valentine” McMyne pitched 2.1 scoreless with a strikeout, and Jimmy “I Drink To” Herget struck out 1 in a scoreless inning. Phillip “The Fair” Ervin mashed again with a 3 for 4 night with a double, solo dinger, and 2 runs scored. Alex “The Great Hair” Blandino made all the ladies swoon with a 2 for 4 night with a double, dinger, and 2 runs scored, and Brandon “Dick Off” Dixon was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored, and a RBI.

Jackson Stephens will pitch at 7:05 PM ET.

Pensacola had the evening off, and Keury Mella will pitch at 7:05 PM CT.

Daytona tried to play baseball, but were once again foiled by water falling from the sky. They got into the 2nd inning with Palm Beach leading 1-0. They’ll resume today sometime and will have to play a double header.

Dayton had the night off and will continue with baseball at 7:00 PM ET with Andrew Jordan on the mound.

Billings 13, Orem 5

Luis “Alice” Alecis put together a quality start. He pitched 6 innings and gave up 3 earned runs. He allowed 3 hits, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. That’s a lot of threes. Cory “Tommy” Thompson pitched 2 scoreless innings with a strikeout. Stuart “Little” Fairchild was 4 for 5 with 4 runs scored and a RBI, Morgan “Loafy” Lofstrom was 2 for 5 with 2 run scored, a double, RBI, and a walk, Montrell “We Are” Marshall was 2 for 4 with a run scored and 2 RBI, Alejo “Gesundheit” Lopez was 2 for 4 with a run scored and a walk, and Carlos “Manly River” Rivero was 3 for 5 with a run scored and a RBI.

Packy Naughton pitches at 6:40 PM MT.

The Baby Reds were rained out, which is something that happens sometimes in Arizona.
