Sound the alarm! Cody Reed pitched a really good game! Actually, his ERA in AAA has been pretty good but his WHIP (1.47) has been pretty atrocious. Last night, Reed pitched 8 shutout innings while giving up 2 hits, 1 walk, and striking out 6. Certainly, this is something to build on and spring some good vibes. Kevin “Rusty” Shackelford struck out 2 in a scoreless inning to pick up his 9th save of the year. Hernan “The Conqueror” Iribarren was 2 for 5 with a solo dinger and 2 RBI. Brandon “No” Dixon “The Dance Floor” walked thrice (3 times), scored twice, and hit a single, and Zach “J Sounds Like Y” Vincej was 3 for 4.

Pensacola Blue Wahoos 3, Mobile BayBears 2

Luis “The Pitcher” Castillo continues to be pretty cool. He pitched 6 innings of 2-run ball while allowing 5 hits, 2 walks, and striking out 8. Robert “Good” Stock pitched a scoreless inning, so did Ariel “Mermaid” Hernandez, and Jimmy “Orange” Herget picked up his 16th save of the year by pitching a perfect frame with 2 strikeouts. Tyler “Goebbels” Goeddel tripled and walked, and Gabriel “Loose Lips” Guerrero knocked in 2 with a single.

Daytona Tortugas 3, Palm Beach Cardinals 4 (F/12)

Wendolyn “Mandolin” Bautista pitched 6.1 innings and gave up only an earned run (2 total). He gave up 5 hits, 2 walks, and 1 strikeout. Jake “Scritch Scratch” Ehret struck out 3 over 2 scoreless innings, and Sandy “Beaches” Lugo was tagged with the loss, but it was an unearned run and he struck out 1. Zack Weiss also pitched and gave up an earned run, but he pitched 2.2 innings and struck out 3. Alfredo “Little Pasta” Rodriguez was 1 for 3 with 2 walks, Daniel “So” Sweet was 2 for 5 with a RBI, walk, and a run scored, Nick “Sexy” Senzel 2 for 5 with a RBI and a walk, and Shane “Forgot He Existed” Mardirosian was 2 for 6.

Andrew “Jackson” Jordan was pretty disgusting, just as his aforementioned nickname suggests, as he gave up 3 earned runs over 3 innings. He allowed 3 hits, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Ryan “Guitar Solo” Hendrix pitched a scoreless inning with 2 strikeouts. Bruce Yari walked twice, and Michael Beltre was 1 for 3 with a run scored and a walk.
