Louisville 5, Columbus 3

Sal “Pimienta” Romano shrugged off the shoulder issues that had sidelined him for over a month, firing 5 innings of scoreless, 8 K ball to lead the Bats over the Clippers. Jesse “Blynken & Nod” Winker backed him with 3 ribbies despite not picking up a single hit, and Darnell “Jodie Foster” Sweeney went 2 for 5 with a double, 2 runs scored, and 2 driven in. Chad “Chad” Wallach had a 3 for 5 night that included a double to claw his season average up to .214, and while Dilson “Jay Bruce has a 112 OPS+” Herrera cracked a double, he also K’d 3 times. Dang.

The Dragons were blitzed by the Lugnuts, who scored in 4 straight innings and had all 8 of their runs on the board by the Bottom of the 5th, 6 of which came off Wennington “of hits allowed” Romero in just 3 IP. TJ Friedl went 2 for 5 with 2 doubles and a run scored from the leadoff spot, Taylor “Tinker” Trammell walked twice, drove in a run, and scored, and Brantley “Taco” Bell went 2 for 4 with a double, but that was all the offense could muster on the night.
