Farmers Only: Your Favorite Prospects Did Things

Especially if they play for Daytona, which you know they do.

Louisville Bats 5, Columbus Clippers 15

Austin “Not Scott Moss” Ross gave up 6 earned runs in 4 innings pitched. He allowed 8 hits, 2 walks, and struck out 2. Barrett “Double Barrel” Astin struck out 1 in a scoreless inning of relief, and Hernan “Best Reliever Ever” Iribarren pitched a scoreless position player inning. Iribarren also pitched in with a 3 for 5 night. Brandon “Mason” Dixon was 2 for 4 with a 2-run dinger and a double. Beau “Drum Solo” Amaral was 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored and a double when he came in for Jesse Winker. I didn’t see anything about him being hurt. So, Winker may be getting a call up. Rob “Bob” Brantley and Dilson “Baby Pickle” Herrera both hit solo dingers, but it wasn’t enough to make up for awful pitching.

Sal Romano returns to action tonight at 7:05 PM ET.

Pensacola Blue Wahoos 7, Mobile BayBears 4

Jose “Porky” Lopez had his defense fail him, but he did pitch pretty well overall. Lopez gave up 1 earned run (4 overall) while allowing 4 hits, 2 walks, and striking out 8. Ariel “Call Him Up” Hernandez pitched 3 scoreless with 5 strikeouts to pick up the save. I realize his BB/9 is off the charts, but I wanna see him pitch in Cincinnati again. I know that’s not exactly realistic or smart. So, Alex “The Great” Blandino was 3 for 3 with a 3-run blast, 2 runs scored, a walk, and 4 RBI total. That’s a pretty swell day. Gabriel “Gabby” Guerrero was 2 for 5 with a RBI. Angelo “Saxophone Solo” Gumbs was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 runs scored.

Luis Castillo gets the start at 6:35 PM CT.

Daytona Tortugas 10, Dunedin Blue Jays 9

Wyatt “Earp” Strahan became a thing again which is cool. If I remember right he had Tommy John surgery. Wick probably knows. He didn’t do too hot, though. Strahan gave up 3 earned runs over 3 innings. He allowed 5 hits, 2 walks, and struck out 5. The bullpen was dirty, brown, water trash. It’s a good thing that the Tortuga offense is good, and they were hittin’ dingers. First, Gavin “LaFrickin” LaValley hit 2 for a total of 3 RBI. That totals 15 for the year, and also coincides with the same day he was selected for the All Star team! Yay! Nick “Senzinnati” Senzel also hit a 2-run dinger, and “Tool” Shed Long hit a 3-run tater. Daniel Sweet “Tooth” decided to pitch in with a 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored night, and Chris “R U” Okey reminded us that he is actually alive by going 2 for 4 with a double.

Wendolyn Bautista will start at 7:05 PM ET.

Dayton had the night off, but Wennington Romero will be on the mound at 7:05 PM ET.
