Farmers Only: Billings keeps mashing

The Mustangs have gotten off to a hot start in the Pioneer League so far.

Louisville Bats 7, Norfolk Tides 6

Amir “Ball is Life” Garrett started for Louisville and was effective but struggled with control, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits in 5.2 innings while walking 4 and striking out 4. Brandon Dixon “Dixoff” kept mashing, going 2 for 5 with a 2-run dinger. Hernan “Conan” Iribarren was 3 for 5 with 1 RBI and scored a run, Darnell Sweeney was 1 for 5 with a RBI double, and Sebastian “Reptilia” Elizalde was 1 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI. Jimmy “Drinks to” Herget got the save for the Bats.

Pensacola was off last night. Keury Mella gets the start against Montgomery tonight at 6:35 PM CT.

Daytona Tortugas 2, Lakeland Flying Tigers 4

Jesus “Walks” Reyes got the start and was wild, going 4.2 innings while giving up 3 runs on 5 hits with 4 walks and 3 strikeouts. Juan Martinez had a solid night out of the ‘pen, striking out 4 of the 6 batters he faced in 1.2 scoreless innings. James “Nameless” Vasquez was 2 for 4 with a double and scored a run, Brantley “Ring My” Bell was also 2 for 4 and had 1 RBI, and Blake “Country Breakfast” Butler was 1 for 4 with a double.

Dayton Dragons 2, West Michigan Whitecaps 3

Dayton gave up a walk-off hit in the bottom of the 12th as they fell to West Michigan in an extra-innings affair. Andrew “Ricky Bobby” Jordan started and was solid, giving up 1 run on 4 hits with only 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Jose “Find my phone” Siri was 2 for 5 and scored a run and Tyler “Bat Flip” Stephenson was 1 for 4 with a RBI double. Sandy Lugo gave up an unearned run and struck out 3 in 3 innings of work.

Billings Mustangs 10, Missoula 5

Billings had another strong night at the plate as they defeated Missoula 10-5 last night. Matt “The other great” Blandino started and gave up 3 runs on 9 hits with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts over 4 innings of work. Montrell “We Are” Marshall was 4 for 5 with a double, a solo dinger, and 2 RBI, Alejo Lopez was 3 for 4 and also had a double, a solo tater, and 2 RBI, Zeke “Three Bagger” White was 2 for 4 with 2 triples and 2 RBI, and Pabel “Apple” Manzanero also had a solo dinger.

AZL Reds 6, AZL White Sox 11

Edward “Bozo” Escoboza started for the Baby Reds and was solid, giving up only 2 runs on 2 hits over 5 innings while walking none and striking out 7. Unfortunately the wheels fell off when they put in Isaac Anesty, who gave up 5 runs in only two-thirds of an inning. Blake Wiggins was 2 for 4 with a double and 1 RBI, Edwin Yon was 1 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI, and Juan Martinez was 1 for 3 with a double, a walk, and 2 RBI.
