Homer Bailey vs. Joe Ross

From one Major League debut yesterday, the Reds have another 2017 debut today as Homer Bailey makes his first start of the year. Bailey hasn’t had a start since August 28th of last year, when he had his second short start in a row with bone spur issues. The decision was made then to shut him down for the rest of the season, coming after only 6 starts. Add in the 2 starts he made in 2015, and it’s been a long time since Bailey was consistently healthy.

Joe Ross has made 9 starts this year, which is more than Bailey’s thrown the last two years, but his ERA is hovering around 6. After taking on Strasburg yesterday, let’s hope the Reds offense can do the same thing today.
