Louisville Bats 3, Gwinnett Braves (F/11)
“Call Me” Ismael Guillon did what we’ve gotten pretty used to him doing. He only allowed 1 run over 4 innings, but he gave up 2 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3. His problem has always been the walks. Tony “Spaghetti” Cingrani pitched a scoreless inning with a strikeout, Alejandro Chacin “Amy” pitched 2 scoreless with 3 strikeouts, and Louis “Ville” Coleman struck out 2 while pitching the final 3 innings without giving up a run to pick up the win. Stuart “Little” Turner was 2 for 4, and Phil “Phlervin” Ervin knocked in 2 with a double.
Vin Mazzaro will be on the mound tonight at 7:05 PM ET.
Pensacola Blue Wahoos 5, Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 2
Luis “Easy Breezy” Castillo continues to be ridiculous. He struck out 10 in 5 innings of 1 run ball. He gave up 4 hits and walked only 1 to go with those 10 strikeouts. That means that 2/3rds of the batters he retired he did by striking them out. Yes, please. Geoff “Jeff” Broussard struck out 2 in a scoreless inning, and Jimmy “Orange” Herget pitched 1.1 scoreless to pick up the save. Angelo “Bleeding” Gumbs “Murphy” was 4 for 4 with a double and 2 runs scored, and Gabby “Blabby” Guerrero was 2 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI. Blake “Brahan” Trahan pitched in with a 2 for 4 night with a run scored.
Stack the Deck McGuire will pitch at 6:35 PM CT.
Daytona Tortugas 4, St. Lucie Mets 2 (F/10)
Jonathon “Crawdad” Crawford must have heard about Wick bustin’ his chops. His line still wasn’t all that great, but he did keep the runs off the board. Crawford gave up 1 earned run (2 total) over 6 innings. He allowed 4 hits, 2 walks, and struck out 1. Austin “Big Brother” Orewiler pitched 2.2 scoreless with 3 strikeouts, and Tanner “Have You Ever Seen The” Rainey pitched 1.1 scoreless with 2 strikeouts to pick up the win. Nick “Sensei” Seznel was 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored and a double. Gavin “LaPower” LaValley was 2 for 5 with 2 run scored. Garrett “Molehair” Boulware was 2 for 3 with a walk, and Chad “Hates The Planet” Tromp was 3 for 5 with a RBI.
The Tortugas play Friday at 6:30 PM ET with Jesus Reyes on the mound.
Dayton Dragons 4, South Bend Cubs 5
Dayton was looking forward to a win until they allowed 3 runs in the top of the 9th. Bullpen pitchers, am I right? Ty “Puffy” Boyles was pretty dang efficient on the evening. He allowed 2 earned runs over 7 innings with 6 hits, 0 walks, and 3 strikeouts making up the rest of his line. Then the bullpen blew it. “Butch” Cassidy Brown hit a solo dinger, but Taylor “Trammellamadingdong” Trammell continues to be the leader of the Dragons and be freaking awesome. He was 3 for 4 with a walk. That will only boost his already robust OBP. The kids is 19 years old and already gets it. TJ “Fried L” Friedl hit a double and walked.
“The Big Deal” TBD will be on the mound at 7:00 PM ET.
