Louisville: off Monday night

The Bats start a six-game road trip tonight in Charlotte. Jackson Stephens will be on the bump against the Knights. “Big Game” James “but a 5.46 career postseason ERA” Shields gets the start for Charlotte tonight on a Chicago White Sox rehab assignment.

Pensacola 8, Mississippi 1

Reminding Reds fans what a quality start looks like, Deck McGuire went seven solid innings, gave up one hit and struck out nine. Alex Blandino went 2-for-4, including his 20th double of the season and four runs batted in.

Luis Castillo starts tonight for the Blue Wahoos at 6:35 p.m. against Mississippi.

Florida 2, Daytona 1

Reydel Medina hit a solo shot in the second inning, but eight innings of six strikeout, shutout ball from starter Jesus Reyes was erased when Zack Weiss gave up a two-out, two-run, game-winning hit in the bottom of the ninth.

Nick “not the new No. 2 pick anymore” Senzel went 0-for-4 with a strikeout.

Daytona plays game two of the series tonight at Florida at 7:05 p.m.

Dayton 8, West Michigan 2

Starter Ty Boyles went six strong, gave up two runs and struck out three. The Dragons played major add-on in the game, scoring three in the sixth and then four in the top of the ninth to close the door. James Vasquez knocked in four runs, Taylor Trammell went 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored, and 2015 1st-round pick Tyler Stephenson went 1-for-3 with one RBI and two walks (all ‘bout dat OBP).

The Dragons play a doubleheader at home tonight v. Great Lakes.
