Farmers Only: Good Golly, Tyler Mahle

The Wahoos’ right-hander continued to dominate the competition in another fantastic outing on Tuesday.

Louisville Bats 5, Gwinnett Barves 2

Austin “The worst ‘Friends’ character” Ross got the start and pitched well, going 8 innings and allowing only 2 runs on 7 hits with no walks and 1 strikeout. He was also 2 for 4 at the plate and had 2 RBI. Not a bad night at the ol’ ball yard. Sebastian “Lizard People” Elizalde was 3 for 4 with a double, a walk, and 1 RBI, Hernan “The Barbarian” Iribarren was 3 for 5 with a double and scored a run, and Dilson “Pickles” Herrera was 1 for 3 with a walk and a RBI double. Kevin “Love” Shackelford struck out 1 in his scoreless inning of relief.

Up Next: TBD starts against Gwinnett tonight at 6”35 PM ET.

Pensacola Blue Wahoos 6, Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 0

Pensacola had some outstanding pitching last night in a 6-0 victory over the Jumbo Shrimp. Tyler “Good Golly, Miss” Mahle did what he does best and had a fantastic outing once again. He went 7 shutout innings, giving up only 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 9. Brennan “San” Bernardino struck out 2 in a scoreless inning of relief and Alex “Danger” Powers struck out 1 in his scoreless inning of work. Blake “Thomas the Choo-Choo” Trahan was 2 for 3 with a RBI double, Eric “Deuce Bigelow Male” Jagielo was 1 for 3 and had 2 RBI, and Gabriel “Young Vlad” Guerrero was 1 for 4 and also drove in 2 runs.

Up Next: Austin Ross will start for Pensacola at 6:35 PM CT.

Daytona Tortugas 2, St. Lucie Mets 3

Daytona struggled to get much going offensively in a 3-2 loss to St. Lucie. Mark “Who?” Armstrong got the start and went 4 innings, allowing no runs on 2 hits with no walks and a strikeout. The bullpen couldn’t hold onto the lead after his solid start, as they allowed 3 runs in the last 3 innings for the loss. At the plate, only 3 guys were able to collect hits. Alfredo “Little Pasta” Rodriguez continued to hit well in May, as he went 3 for 4 and scored a run. Nick “Senzational” Senzel was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI and Gavin “As I walk through” LaValley was 1 for 4 with a solo dinger.

Up Next: TBD starts for Daytona at 6:30 PM ET.

Dayton Dragons 2, South Bend Cubs 9

Daytona had a 2-1 lead heading into the top of the 9th, and then all hell broke loose and they gave up 8 runs in the inning to lose 9-2. Scott “Randy” Moss went 5 innings, giving up no runs on 3 hits with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts. Jesse “No Evil” Adams gave up only 1 run in his 3 innings. Unfortunately, Jesse “Evil” Stallings came on in the 9th and gave up 7 runs on 6 hits without recording an out. Yikes. At the plate, Bruce “New” Yari “New Me” was 2 for 4 with a double and scored a run, James “No, still no nickname” Vasquez was 1 for 4 with a 2-run dinger, and Michael “Head Rub” Beltre was 2 for 3 with a triple.
