Farmers Only Weekend Harvest: Summer Is Here

And Daytona’s offense and Shed Long are pretty great.

Friday

Louisville 4, Lehigh Valley 9

General Jackson Stephens was putting together a pretty good start until right at the end. Stephens allowed 4 earned runs over 6 innings with 2 coming in his final inning. 6 hits were given up with 2 walks while striking out 7. Tony “Brenda” Renda was 2 for 4 with a double and a RBI.

Pensacola 6, Mississippi 5

Luis “Needed An O” Castillo was super efficient. He gave up 8 hits over 4 innings which coincided with 3 earned runs. He walked 1 and struck out 3. Alex “Light Tower” Powers struck out 2 in a scoreless inning, Robert “Good” Stock pitched a scoreless 1.2, Geoff “Jeff” Broussard pitched a scoreless inning, and Jimmy “Sherbet” Herget struck out 1 in a scoreless inning to pick up the save. Alex “The Great” Blandino hit a solo dinger, walked, and scored twice. Gabriel “Vlad” Guerrero was 4 for 5 with a triple, RBI, and a run scored, and Adrian “Neato” Nieto was 2 for 4.

Daytona 3, Tampa 4

Jose “Porky” Lopez was pretty mediocre. He gave up 3 earned runs over 5 innings while allowing 4 hits, 3 walks, and striking out 4. Brian “Booty” Hunter pitched 2 scoreless innings and struck out 4. Alfredo “Pasta Rod” Rodriguez was 3 for 5 with a triple and 2 RBI.

Dayton 5, West Michigan 7 (F/12)

Wennington Romero was pretty great again. He pitched 7 innings and gave up 3 earned runs. He allowed 9 hits, no walks, and struck out 3. Patrick “Let’s Get” Riehl pitched a scoreless inning with 2 strikeouts. Jose “Ask” Siri was 2 for 6, Taylor “TT” Trammell was 2 for 6 with a double, triple, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI, Bruce “Yeti” Yari was 2 for 6 with 2 run dinger, and Brantley “Ring My” Bell was 2 for 6 with a double.

Saturday

Louisville 1, Lehigh Valley 13

Ismael Guillon”tine” started for the first time in a while and got decapitated. He allowed 6 earned runs over 3.1 innings while giving up 6 hits, 1 walk, and striking out 2. The bullpen was trash. Jesse Winker”bean” was 2 for 4 with a RBI.

Pensacola 4, Mississippi 2

Deck “Feck” McGuire continues to be awesome. He gave up only 2 earned runs over 6 innings while striking out 9, walking none, and allowing only 4 hits. Domingo “Flamingo” Tapia pitched 2 scoreless with 3 strikeouts, and Geoff “Ree” Broussard pitched a scoreless inning to pick up his 5th save. Alex “Blandiyes” Blandino hit his 3rd homer of the year, a 2 run shot in the 2nd inning, on a 2 or 3 night where he also doubled, walked, and drove in 3 Wahoos. Aristides “Heiress Titties” Aquino was 3 for 4 with a double and a run scored.

Daytona 7, Tampa 3

Vladimir “Putin” Gutierrez pitched a gem. He allowed no runs over 6.1 innings while giving up only 3 hits, no walks, and striking out 8. Jake “Scritch Scratch” Ehret picked up the save while pitching 1.1 scoreless with 2 strikeouts. Shed Long has been freaking ridiculous this year, and it continued Saturday. Long went 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored, 2 dingers (both 2 run shots), and 4 RBI. Gavin “Strollin’ Through” LaValley was 2 for 4 with a double and RBI, Daniel “Too” Sweet was 2 for 3 with a run scored, and Alfredo “Baby Pasta” Rodriguez was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored. Chad “Make Daytona Great Again” Tromp hit a 2 run bomb.

Dayton 5, West Michigan 2

Ty “Popping” Boyles put together a nice one. He pitched 6.1 innings and gave up 1 earned run (4 H, 0 BB, 5 K). Joel “Strudel” Kuhnel pitched 1 scoreless inning with a strikeout. Jose “Find Me A Homer” Siri was 3 for 4 with a 2 run dinger and 3 RBI total. Luis “MVP” Gonzalez was 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored and a RBI.

Sunday

Louisville 2, Lehigh Valley 14

Vin Mazzaro and Barrett “Little Place Called” Astin were absolutely destroyed, but I have to find something nice to say about Louisville pitching. Lucas “Get” Luetge threw 1.1 scoreless innings with 2 strikeouts, Evan “Silky Smooth” Mitchell pitched a scoreless inning with 2 strikeouts, and Louis “Thermos” Coleman pitched a scoreless inning with a strikeout. Rob “Bob” Brantly hit a solo dinger, and Beau “Bo” Amaral was 2 for 4.

Pensacola 2, Mississippi 3

Keury “Hella” Mella put together a pretty good start (5.1 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K). Ariel Hernandez pitched the final 1.2 innings, didn’t give up a run, and struck out 2. Brian “Beef” O’Grady was 1 for 2 with a walk.

Daytona 9, Tampa 5

Jesus “Lives” Reyes pitched 5 innings and gave up 2 earned runs (4 total) on 5 hits, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Austin “Animal Farm” Orewiler pitched 2 scoreless with 2 strikeouts, and Sandy “Cheeks” Lugo struck out 2 in a scoreless inning of relief. Gavin “Deep In” LaValley hit a 2 run dinger on a 3 for 5 afternoon, scored 2 runs, and drove in 2. Nick Senzel was 3 for 4 and hit 2 doubles, scored 3 runs, had 2 RBI, and walked. Reydel “Rotel” Medina was 2 for 4 with a triple, run scored, and 2 RBI.

Dayton 1, West Michigan 2 (F/10)

Andrew “Jackson” Jordan kept the Dragons in it, but the bats didn’t respond. Jordan pitched 6 innings and gave up an earned run on 4 hits, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts. Carlos Machorro pitched 3 scoreless with a strikeout, Patrick “Stihl” Riehl pitched an inning without giving up an earned run though a run would score. Jose Siri continued his big weekend by hitting 2 for 2 with a solo homer.

Memorial Day

Louisville 1, Lehigh Valley 3

Cody “Rec Specs” Reed was just ok and really needs to work on his control. Reed gave up 3 earned runs over 7 innings. He allowed 9 hits, 3 walks, and struck out 4. Kyle McMyne pitched a scoreless inning with a strikeout. Hernan “Conan” Iribarren was 2 for 4 with a double, and Rob Brantley was 2 for 4 with a RBI.

Pensacola had the holiday off. Tyler Mahle will start tonight at 6:35 PM CT.

Daytona had the holiday off as well. TBD will be on the mound at 6:30 PM ET.

Dayton 4, West Michigan 2

Tony “Angry Face” Cingrani took the rehab start and pitched a scoreless inning and walked one. Tony “Santigrade” Santillan then took over and was ok. He gave up 2 earned runs over 5 innings, but he allowed 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out only 2. Ryan “Jimi” Hendrix pitched a scoreless inning with 2 strikeouts, and Joel Kuhnel picked up the save by pitching another scoreless inning with a strikeout. Brantley “Ding Dong” Bell was 2 for 4 with a RBI, and Bruce Yari “Gagarin” hit a solo dinger.
